[YMMV] American Express Transfer Bonus: 30% To Marriott (1:1.3)

The Offer

• Some American Express members are being targeted for a 30% transfer bonus to Marriott. Normally you can transfer 1,000 Membership Rewards points to 1,000 Marriott points. Under this promotion you’d receive 1,300 Marriott points.

Our Verdict

Previously transfer bonuses for SPG have been 50%, but the recent Marriott bonuses have only been 30%. I don’t think it’s worth considering transferring points even with a much bigger transfer bonus as MR points are so much more valuable than Marriott points, but if you’re short just a small amount of Marriott points then maybe it makes sense but I doubt the 30% bonus really changes that equation much. Previous transfer bonuses have been as follows:

• September 4th – October 31st, 2019: 30% transfer bonus
• June 10th – unknown end date, 2019: 50% transfer bonus (YMMV)
• October 23 – November 17th, 2016: 50% bonus
• October 12th – October 31st, 2015: 50% bonus
• October 16th – November 30th, 2014: 50% bonus
