The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Barclays is offering a bonus of 45,000 points on the Wyndham card after $1,000 in spend within the first 90 days

Card Details

  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 5x points per $1 spent on stays within the Wyndham portfolio
    • 2x points per $1 on gas, utility and grocery store purchases
    • 1x points per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Anniversary bonus of 6,000 points
  • Annual fee of $75 (waived first year)
  • Automatic Platinum status
  • Standard Visa Signature benefits

Our Verdict

Previously all Wyndham properties cost 15,000 points per night, so this 45,000 point offer was good for three free nights anywhere but Wyndham recently moved to a three tier system with properties costing 7,500, 15,000 or 30,000 points per night. The previous best bonus on this card was 45,000 points but without the annual fee waived and a higher minimum spend requirement. If the properties you want to stay at still cost 15,000 points (or even 7,500 points) then this offer will be worth considering. Unfortunately for most people all of the nicer properties cost 30,000 points so the value of this bonus has basically halved.

I’ll most likely add this to the best credit card bonuses as I doubt we will see a better offer in the near future and this can still be good value. As always if you have any questions about Barclays credit cards, read this first. There is also at least one data point of Barclays possibly extending their 6/24 rule to this card as well.

I am able to see the offer still. I recently signed up for the wyndham account few months back and got an email for 45K points offer till 10/10. The link doesnt work in incognito mode so makes me believe its available from inside the wyndham account

Unfortunately, it appears (as of 10/03) that the 45,000 link offer is no longer working. (Seeing this error message to your link above now: “We’re always updating our website which sometimes makes hotlinks out of date.”) Still have a legacy version of the card (the one with 15k annual bonus) Yet spouse would go for this if we could find it working again. (15k Wyndham places can be great values not just in Europe, but out in the US west, near many of the popular national parks at peak season 🙂 , and surprisingly, still in Hawaii….. among examples rarely mentioned in the travel blogs)

OTOH, we filled out a Barclay’s survey about possible new benefits for just this card — and some of the options presented would make for a much better “refresh” of the Card. Fingers crossed.

The card used to be great when you earned two points for any purchase, and could redeem 15K points for a free night at their all-inclusive properties. However, now that that option is gone, I see no reason for a hard pull for 1.5 free nights at a less than aspirational Wyndham.

All Hawaii properties are still 15,000 per night.

I am currently 6/24. I received the 100K Amex Platinum bonus via CardMatchTool recently and was about to pull the trigger on starting that sign up bonus. It seems like this offer is really an easy $450 back so it’s tempting. Should I apply for this Barclay Wyndham card and same-day apply to the Amex Platinum? Or the Amex card first then the Barclay?

I appreciate the guidance 🙂

This offer is NOT worth $450. YMMV though. I would value this offer at around $200-$300 depending the hotels you have in mind. I would go for another Barclays and then Amex 100k

Amex, hands-down. Not even close.

Just attended a 2hr Wyndham timeshare pitch in Panama City Beach. Received 48k points and a $50 amex gift card (45k points standard offer, I haggled). Cost $99 to sign up for the pitch. Rep said I could attend and receive gift every 6mo. Nice beach front redemption is 15k off season locally. Bonnet creek etc are 30k so thats a no go.

Not worth being on the best credit card list even if the bonus were 60k. The devaluation made this worthless.

I got declined for this card for too many new accounts a year ago. I think it is 5/24. I wouldn’t put it on any best credit card list.

All Chase cards are under 5/24 rule, and they are still on the best card list. Being hard to get approved for some does not mean it is not a good card, said by me who can’t get approved for any Barclay card in forever lol.

It wasn’t a instant approval for me. it went under review. I called the 866-408-4064 few in later, after few questions. got approval. I had aviator business card, perhaps that helped.

Barclays is known to have a 6/24 general guideline. Not as strict as Chase’s 5/24, but I was rejected last year when I applied, and when I talked to the recon line they said their general practice is to reject if there are more than 6 new cards in the last 2 years.

There’s also a lot of value by being able to match to Caesars platinum status. No resort fees, $100 dining credit, free show tickets each month, ‘free’ Atlantis rooms, etc.

You only get those things (other than ‘free’ atlantis) if youre caesar dimaond.

Those are Caesars Diamond benefits, not Platinum. Caesars Platinum gets you buy-one-get-one-free show tickets each month in Vegas, and some line-skips at front desks and some restaurants. But the waived resort fees, complementary show tickets, and $100 dining credit are reserved for Diamond level.
