[Targeted – Select Companies] Free IHG Spire Elite Status (Top Tier) For 90 Days + Challenge For 2020

Update 6/2/19: Deal is back, still requires an offer code. Feel free to share the code if you have it in the comments below.

This time an offer code is required, so won’t even be able to try without that.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • IHG is offering free spire elite status for 90 days. You can also keep Spire elite status for the calendar year of 2020 if within 90 days of registering of the offer you meet the following requirements:
    • Stay 10 nights (instead of 75) in 90 days and keep Spire Elite status through 2020
    • Stay 5 nights (instead of 40) in 90 days and keep Platinum Elite status through 2020

The Fine Print

  • The Offer is valid between February 1, 2019 and April 30, 2019 and the member will have 90 days from the day of registration to consume the designated number of nights required to retain elite status for the calendar year of 2020.
  • Instant Spire Elite members under this Offer will receive the bonus points or gifting benefit after completion of the required Stays.
  • This offer is limited to the first 5,000 registrants.

Our Verdict

There was a similar deal last year. It does specifically state you need to be an employee of an eligible company and last time that was seemingly enforced, although a few people seemed to get the upgraded status even if they weren’t part of one of those companies. Last time people did receive confirmation e-mails, but the status never actually upgraded so keep that in mind.

I did this in the fall and successfully completed it. It took a lot of back and forth with customer service to have the status actually update, but it eventually did.

I’ve been pretty disappointed with IHG’s service, specifically with their rewards. I feel like I am always having to contact them about missing points or bonus points from their promotions. I was just on the phone with them for a hour today trying to get points from their double points promotion; they told me my 12-night stay wouldn’t receive double points because it was at a “non-qualifying” hotel (i.e. on a military base), even though I’ve received bonus points from the same hotel several times before…
I am also Diamond with Hilton, any other chains with more promising rewards programs? Hilton is always very accurate and timely with points, but there’s not great value there.

My company has this. Search on the company intranet for code / talk to travel booking administrators.

IHG will most probably verify if you are an employee of the appropriate company, so tbh, don’t bother trying any leaked out promo codes.

Do you know if ihg will match to spite from any competitors? I have Marriott and Hilton status if it makes any difference

Member benefits says rewards night considered as qualified stay. Should be easy to have 10 stays then.

You can TRY promo code 74680. No promises or guarantees, and as William Charles specifically stated you will not necessarily be upgraded even if the code is accepted and you get a confirmation.

“The code you entered is invalid for your membership. Please check the qualification requirements for your country, region or program.”

Was worth a shot. I have 14 days of stay upcoming. This would have been nice. Hopefully someone else has a code that works.

Probably not. Surely if it did that would be the first thing mentioned in the article!

Who matches status?

Anyone ever pay for InterContinental® Ambassador – what elite level does it provide? Does’nt sound like it is worth it unless you getting status matching and stay and use status match at a competitor

I’ve paid for Ambassador status for the past four years. We stay at an Intercontinental at least once a year and the late checkout and room upgrade alone is worth the price for me. The reason being is that when you are Spire Ambassador at this hotel they extend the benefits even on award stays. Interestingly enough, I’ve maintained Spire elite status for all those four years for some unknown reason, even though I only qualified the first year. I’m almost sure it has something to do with when I renew my Ambassador versus when Spire status renews.
