The Offer
Some people are reporting that they have been able to get targeted for a 30,000 point offer after $3,000 in spend within three months when opening a new SPG account. Here is what you need to do:
- Open a new SPG account
- At the end of the account opening, on the page with your new SPG account number you might see the 30,000 point offer. It should be below “download our app” and “check out our properties” boxes.
The Fine Print
- This might not work for everybody, tried it a couple of times and it worked once and didn’t work the other times. YMMV as the title suggests.
- Interest rates and fees might be different to the 25,000 point offer

- Premium in room internet at all SPG hotels
- Earn 2x points on all SPG purchases
- Earn 1x points on all other purchases
- Annual fee of $95 is waived for the first year
Our Verdict
You can only get the sign up bonus on each American Express personal card once, 30,000 points is the highest bonus I’ve seen on this card so if you’re in need of SPG points then I’d probably jump on this offer. It’s also worth noting that Marriott has announced plans to acquire SPG, although you should really be burning your points before there is any impact due to that acquisition. If you applied for this card recently, ask American Express if they’ll match you to this offer and you’ll probably receive some courtesy points.
