Our Verdict
This is a nice offer for the Marriott Business card which is usually just 50,000 points. There is a higher spend threshold of $2,000 versus the standard $1,000, but that would be worthwhile for the extra 20,000 points.
It’s also worth noting that the Public Chase Marriott Premier 70,000 Point Offer After $2,000 Spend Is Back for the personal version of this card. There’s also a signup bonus offer on the personal version of $100 statement credit + 40,000 points. And there’s a similar offer for elite members but with $150 instead of $100.

I want to stack this with my 140k ritz (my partner and I both did this) so then we would have 420k, enough for a tier 1-3 ritz property plus airline points. When we signed up for ritz we received ritz loyalty program accounts – any trick to also having this cars with Chase? Will having two accounts be a problem?
@Paul @LiteSalt Thanks for your thoughts.
Marriott points usually are pretty lackluster, but their flight + hotel packages are where they really shine. By having the points transfer 1:1 to a myriad of different airlines plus a hotel certificate, It’s an excellent way to bump up mileage totals, and in the case of Southwest, qualify for the Companion Pass. This has been covered before (I think even on this blog), but it always bears repeating.
Though 70,000 points isn’t quite enough to get there, combined with a future 140K Ritz-Carlton bonus would put someone well on his way to getting Companion Pass.
My opinion, and plan for use, is that you target this card when you have solid plans in which you can use these points (hotel or flight). This of course means you may not time it perfectly (resulting in additional annual fees or point loss due to inferior promotions), but that is for the individual to decide. You then apply for multiple cards between husband and wife, and once you get close to the trip you transfer all needed points to one account (there are rules for the transfer). This way you maximize the points and reduce the annual fee cost as well as the credit pulls. I am still on hold for my next vacation that could utilize these points.
I was just about to apply for the non-business version with 50k signup bonus. Then I realized that we’re not talking about UR points here, am I right? Marriot Rewards are useless for me but with UR points I could redeem for statement credit or whathaveyou. Too bad…
Yeah, these are Marriott points. If they were Chase UR it would be an incredible deal. Marriott points aren’t really worth a great deal to be honest.
Because of hotel category inflation, the value of the annual free night e-certificate has declined. However, you can easily search Marriotts by category at this site:

Select the category you wish to search in the upper right of the screen, then click the Find button.
Thanks
I do not currently have a business card with Chase. However, I am an authorized user on two family member’s Chase business cards. Will my authorized user status prevent me from getting my own Chase business card?
Thanks,
KC
No it would not prevent you from doing this.
