Our Verdict

Alliant offer three credit cards: this card, a card that doesn’t offer rewards, and a 2.5% cash back card. You’re limited to one card with Alliant, but you can product change between the cards. It’s made even better by the fact that you could at a later stage product change this card into the 2.5% card and still get that rate and the annual fee waived first year (3% no longer offered first year).

Previously, we’ve seen a $250 public bonus; this round the bonus is only $200 and seems to be targeted. If you have any questions about Alliant please read this post first as they are most likely answered there.

How do you know if you’re targeted?
via email?

Does anybody know if I can product change my Visa Signature to Visa Platinum Rewards?
Does it require another hard pull?

Beware! I joined Alliant in January for the 2.5-3% card and it’s been nothing but problems. Downgraded benefits of the card, hundreds in interest charged because their automated payments don’t work correctly, numerous calls to customer service, and it continues.

Will be shutting down the card when the 1st year is over.

They also ask for an insane amount of documentation when applying.

They must have different offers going out on this card, in a May 8th email I received $150 offer for $1,500 in spend.

Chuck I thought alliant no longer offer 3% on the other card. You had a post in Jan, 2020 about that.

It looks like this could be targeted? Look at #2 on the link’s fine print (snip below).

2. Only those members selected to participate in this offer are eligible. As described in the Alliant Visa Platinum Rewards Program Terms & Conditions, certain categories of purchases do not qualify to earn rewards points and are not qualifying purchases for this promo offer (spend $3,000 by 6/07/20 and earn 20,000 bonus points).

I’ve seen DPs recently that 2.5% card doesn’t post cashback at Simon. Anyone have the 2% and used it at SImon?

You are correct. It’s been over a year now since this DP was set in place.

This card is dead for MS unless the May statements were an error. Both Simon and Giftcardmall didn’t post rewards.

Damn, good to know. I have heard about this for a while, but I thought i only affected the 2.5-3% bonus cards, and not at Simon at least.

It’s worked for me at Simon.

Yes. An in-mall purchase about 4 months ago.

I’ve done plenty of Simon in-mall purchases on the 2.5% card. Last was 3/1 and CB posted just fine. They stopped paying out on GCM and I believe on Simon online purchases more than a year ago, but I’ve been making almost monthly on-site mall purchases up until 3/1 with success. Possible things have changed in the past 2 months — since malls have been closed in many places, I’m not positive on that. Also note that I’m not hitting very heavy on the Alliant card — not cycling and have generally only done $6K-$8K/mo at the mall. Looking to cover fees, gas, and some of the time on the rest of the cards we purchase.
