[Highly YMMV] American Express Business Gold 75,000 Points After $5,000 In Spend Offer

Update 3: Extended to June 30th, 2016 and open to new people.

Update 2: We’re reposting for the same reasons listed below.

We’re reposting this link as the offer has been extended and some people that weren’t targeted before now seem to be targeted. Remember if you’re not targeted then you can still get this same offer with higher minimum spend requirement of $10,000.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

For awhile it’s been possible to get 75,000 membership rewards (MR) points after $10,000 in spend on the American Express Business Gold rewards card. There is now an offer which only requires you to spend $5,000 to get the 75,000 MR points. There are two ways you might be able to get this offer:

  • Click here and log into your account. Make sure that the offer is the same after you log in, not everybody is being targeted for this offer.

Update: If you log in and it says “our systems are down” then it means you’re not eligible for this offer and calling will not help. You can still get 75,000 points, but you’ll need to do $10,000 in spend instead of only $5,000. Find out how to get this other offer here

The Fine Print

  • Valid until March 31st, 2015 June 30th, 2015 September 29th, 2015 June 30th, 2016
  • Annual fee of $175 is waived for the first year
  • This is a business card, you’ll need a business to apply for it
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 3x on airfares purchased directly through the airline
    • 2x on purchases for advertising in select media, shipping, at gas stations, and made directly from select computer hardware, software, and cloud computing providers
    • 1x on all other purchases

Our Verdict

This is obviously better than the other 75,000 point offer due to the lower spend requirement. You should be able to get this bonus either by calling or online. I already signed up for the other 75,000 point bonus, so I’ll be sitting this one out as you can only get American Express business bonuses once per twelve months. There is also an increased sign up bonus on the American Expresss SimplyCash bonus of $250 and the American Express Personal Premier Rewards Gold Card has a sign up bonus of 50,000 points after $1,000 in spend.

It would be possible to apply for all three of those cards and it should only result in one hard pull, although you need to have a business and be able to meet the combined minimum spend of $11,000 within three months.

I already have 4 AMEX cards, including 3 business cards. I’d love to swap out of my Delta business AMEX (in which I recent paid the AF) and get this Gold offer. Any recommendations on how to proceed? Is it better to cancel the Delta or wait to see if I get approved for Gold?

I am getting a “Our systems are not responding error” when i try logging in from the link.

Sud – same here….

Would Amex match if I just signed up for the 75k/10k spend offer 2 weeks ago?

I got on chat to see if they can match the offer and he said he put a note on my account that I requested a match and to check back in with chat in about a week to check on the status.

Can you downgrade a business to a personal card?

Does the 12 month clock to get a second bonus start from when the card was open or when it was closed? I just my biz gold card 2 weeks ago but opened it back in Septenber. Thanks.

i was wondering the same thing…..

Neither. If you have or ever have had the card, you cannot get another welcome offer.

After logging in to apply, I get this error message:

“We’re sorry, but our systems are currently down.
Please consider applying by phone by calling 1-800-519-OPEN, or try again later after exploring our current offers.”

Not working. I called in and I was asked for a 14 digit RSVP code.

Not working for me either when I called in. The Amex rep said that the A4VR “offer was a con” and some kind of phishing attempt to get people to enter in their information.

This is true. Any offer with the A4VR code is absolutely a fake.

You mentioned needing 12 months to reappy. I thought you could only get one offer per lifetime now with AMEX. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You are correct John. You can only get one welcome offer per business card per lifetime with American Express.

Anyone still seeing the 75k link at the standard website ( )? I’ve been trying different browsers, different devices, etc. for a long time and only getting 50k.

I don’t see it anymore either. I think they pulled it off.

I tried calling in twice. No luck. I’ve been trying browsers past few days as well and no luck. I gave the offer code from the above post and they said it has expired. Both of the reps I spoke with said its expired and couldn’t give anything more over the phone.

I have the same question as Devon:
“Does the 12 month clock to get a second bonus start from when the card was open or when it was closed?”

In my instance, I applied Jan 2014, but closed it Feb 2015. Do you think I could be eligible for the bonus again if I apply this week?

William, I just got the Amex PRG personal card with 50k MR points on Jan 31st and I’ve never applied for any business card before. Since it’s been only two months fromm my last Amex card application and thinking about my FICO score of ~720, do you think I should apply for this card or wait for a few months? I see the deadline for this offer is Jun 30th. Thanks.

Just my experience. Last couple of weeks I tried with multiple browsers, incognito. IE, Firefox, Chrome, on different computers, etc. All I got were 25k and 50k offers. Then at 2am Sunday 4/20, a few days since my last attempt, it appeared on the first try in Firefox for 75k. I did have this business gold card before but had closed it back in Sept 2013. I had received the 75k bonus back then. I was approved immediately Sunday, made sure to take screen shots of the offer. I was given the option to add the card to my existing account immediately (which I did) and given the option for an AU card (which I happily took). Not even knowing the card number, I created another Twitter account (one of many) and then synced the card to the Smart and Final offer (another story). It was approved for the offer.

So long story, don’t give up hope.

I thought Amex no longer backdates new credit accounts…this was on flyertalk and other blogs a few months ago when Amex changed their policies. Is this not the case?
