Our Verdict

We told you that this offer would launch today, yesterday. In case you missed that post, please keep in mind that it’s actually possible for some people to get an 100,000 point offer that only requires $10,000 total spend. We detail that method here. There is also currently a 75,000 point offer with no lifetime language and only a $5,000 spend requirement. Personally I don’t think this offer is that attractive, the spend requirement is exceptionally high and American Express are getting stricter and stricter on what qualifies are eligible spend. I’d personally try to get one of the offers mentioned above, or just wait it out for a better offer to come along. As always if you have questions regarding American Express cards, read this post.

This is a pretty mediocre deal. Getting 100k points for 25k$ spend is 4% cashback from the bonus, in addition to the regular cashback you’d be getting from category spend.

Basically, if you have a real business and real spend, this might as well make it worthwhile; if, on the other hand, you just MS the sh!t out of these cards, then you might as well just go for Ink Cash or two (most of my MS volume has been through OD/OM anyways, even if not doing it for the OSS category bonus).

Hey Charles,

I mostly fly with United. I just found out that I have to choose a qualifying airline with this card to use the $200 incidental fee AND the 35% rebate points bonus. You have any recommendation on how to use the incidental fee? I usually don’t purchase meals on flights, lounges, or baggage fees.

Thanks for the info! I saw on the United TravelBank that they plan to come back by early 2018. I think we are almost in mid 2018 haha.

This is the highest spending requirement I’ve ever seen.
$25,000 in 12 months is OK and would be better for AMEX because you would be spending on that card all year long. But $25,000 in 90 days is insane.

Tried the 75k offer but wasn’t targeted. The 25k spend threshold is just too high.

$25,000 spend in less than 3 months time! Way too much money. I have no idea why AMEX has such high requirements. I tried the other links and they are dead.

They have those requirements because the kinds of businesses they want to attract are the kinds what spend that kind of money in three months.

If I’m a sole proprietor who makes $5k a year in a side business, gets the card bonus, uses the hell out of the benefits (including double-dipping the airline credit), and then cancels, I’m not a profitable customer for them.

Every credit card issuer wants those kinds of customers, AMEX isn’t anything special. All banks want sucker (customers) who’ll spend a boatload of money on the card and seek nothing in return.

Sorry, not an expert with the small print. I do not see once per lifetime on offer terms. Is that accuarte, I can re-apply for a business plat again for the 100k?
