Recently the American Express Business Platinum card had a sign up bonus of 100,000 Membership Rewards points, broken down as follows:
- 50,000 points after $5,000 in spend
- Additional 25,000 points after an additional $10,000 in spend

Previously this card offered a bonus of 40,000 points after $5,000 in spend (or maybe it was $3,000). It looks like American Express have decided to revert to a new bonus structure on this card going forward, the current offer is as follows:
- 50,000 points after $10,000 in spend
- Additional 25,000 points after an additional $10,000 in spend
That’s a huge total spend requirement of $20,000 for 75,000 miles. Significantly worse than the recent 100,000 deal both in terms of total points and also minimum spend requirements. There was some rumors about American Express adding additional benefits to this card in Q1 of this year, I’m not sure if they are on hold now that Chase has reduced the bonus on the Chase Sapphire Reserve online (still available in branch).
