[Expired] Amex Offers: eBags, Spend $100 & Get $20 or 2,000 Points (Stack With Portal & Promo Codes)

Reposting 9/16/19 as there are various increased shopping portal offerings today, including TCB 28% on Tumi, TCB 22% on everything else, and 20x United or Alaska miles per dollar. (Update: a reader points out that the Amex Offer has already expired, so that won’t work anymore. Updated as Expired now.)

The Offer

Check your American Express login for one of the following offers:

  • Get a $20 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $100+ in one or more transactions online at eBags.com by 9/15/2019.
  • Get 2,000 Membership Rewards points by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $100+ in one or more transactions online at eBags.com by 9/15/2019.

The Fine Print

  • Valid online only.
  • Not valid on purchases shipped outside of the US. See merchant website for shipping policy. Some merchants may not ship to all areas.

Stacking the Deal

  • Get $20 or 2,000 points with $100 purchase from Amex with this deal.
  • Remember, each person can save one cash offer and one points offer if you got them both. If you have the offer on two cards (or if you have one offer yourself and one from P2), you can buy a gift card and apply it at checkout, and pay the remainder with the second card. Max one gift card can be applied per order. If you are purchasing smaller items, you can – of course – just split up each item in a separate purchase.
  • Topcashback is currently offering 20% back sitewide on Ebags; that’s about as good as it gets. This offer ends in 3 days, July 21-22.
  • Chase Ultimate Rewards is offering 10x points which is also a good alternative. British is offering 18x. See Cashbackmonitor for other portal options.
  • I’m seeing promo code DEALS on the Ebags site for 30% offer, expires today. Not positive if that’ll stack with the portal, but I’m optimistic. Unclear when this promo code expires.
  • When clicking through Topcashback, the system auto-populates promo code IMRGEN at checkout for 25% off. Being that it posts that way automatically, it should stack with the portal. The other DEALS promo code is a better deal, but using this one you are more secure in getting the portal rewards. (Personally, I’d risk it and use the DEALS promo code for 30%.)
  • Signup for Ebags Rewards and get up to 10% back on your purchase toward a future purchase.
  • Let us know of any other available stacks.

Our Verdict

This eBags offer comes out a few times per year, and becomes especially interesting when stacking the discounts for over 50% off. See this post for info on how to see your Amex Offers if you’re experiencing technical difficulties.

If you are new to Ebags, appreciate if you use my Ebags referral link to signup. You’ll get a new member 25% off code and I’ll get $10 credit. The promo code probably won’t stack with the other promo code mentioned here, but it might be a broader code with no exclusions.

Ibotta is also offering 15% back at ebags and there’s an online shopping bonus of $5 for $100 spend (offer and amount YMMV). I went that route since TCB isn’t very consistent for me.

Is there anything worth to buy at ebags.com? I saw there are much excluded brands for promo code. Thanks.

Millennial Outrage

There’s some good Patagucci gear that’s not excluded.

Millennial Outrage

Meant to say, not excluded from portals. Not eligible for promo code.

Other protip: Ebags is one of those sites with inflated sticker prices to invoke an anchoring bias and make you feel like you’re getting a deal when you really might not. Even 50, 80%+ off sticker still doesn’t necessarily mean a price is even competitive. Definitely do your homework because even tons of stacked “deals” doesn’t necessarily make it so

Anyone have recommendations on things to buy? Bought a shirt there but sizing wasn’t great and they have a $6 restocking fee…

If you use most Amex cards, you can make a return protection claim to get back the $6. I’ve done it for Shoes.com, which charges $6.95 for returns.

Kodiak boots… I got a fantastic deal on them. John 3:16

Thanks for sharing! I’m happy (sad for my wallet though!) to say that this was the proverbial ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’ offer — I finally bought the Briggs & Riley @work Medium Cargo backpack I’ve had my eyes on for many months

BTW, for anyone else looking at buying B&R products – the vast majority of the cash back portals seem to exclude it when buying on eBags (including Topcashback). However, the BA portal (offering 18 Avios per dollar today) did not seem to have any such exclusion, no matter how much I looked.

From the TopCashback page: Gift certificates, monogramming, luggage locator services, and the following brands (Fujifilm, Briggs & Riley) are excluded from cash back.

Yeah isn’t that what I said? Haha. But the BA portal doesn’t have that language.

I’ve been eyeing this site for a while since seeing the Amex offers earlier this year. It looks like the durability and quality of the eBags brand packs are on the lower end. The reviews note that the material wears relatively quickly. Also on the backpacks with straps that can be tucked away they use low quality plastic hooks which have broken or come unsnapped according to reviews.

All of that to stay, I’m avoiding eBags brand and looking to snag a deal on one of the more reputable brands, like a Samsonite carry on.

My experience with Topcashback and using the eBags promo code (i.e. Deals) will nullify your cashback. However, I have had success with getting the eBates cashback when stacking with an eBags promo code.

Using Topcashback will invalidate you for Topcashback cashback, in my experience.

For the AmEx deals, do taxes and fees count? I’m looking at a bag for $99.99 and want to make sure I get the AmEx credit.

EBay’s seems to have perpetual Amex offers. It will probably be back soon.
