Our Verdict

Previously T-Mobile users were offered a one month free trial, so I don’t think these are particularly rare. Although for cardholders you obviously get two months. Just remember to cancel as you are enrolled automatically and will be charged $27 per month if you forget to cancel. American Express is also offering a free year of ‘Calm’ sleep and meditation app. And earlier today brought back the shop small promotion.

If you wait until the end of your trial to cancel, they will offer you another two months for $5/month. I was prepared to pay for it so this was a nice surprise.

While canceling my subscription — which you can do right after signing up and keep the service for the first two months — noticed the code used for the 2-month free trial (AMEX2MONTH). May be helpful for anyone looking to signup without an Amex Platinum.

This is nice – I’ve been wanting to try Obe. I follow some of the instructors (like Amanda Kloots whose husband is still in the icu from covid) and their classes look fun. Maybe Amex feels guilty about the weight members gained from all the wine offers.

If they only drank wine and didn’t eat, they would lose weight.

I lost 15 pounds when I switched to steamed food. I am not advertising any product. I just bought a cheap steam pot and ate steamed vegetables, fish and chicken. The food actually tasted better and it is cheaper to cook without oil. I didn’t use any stupid app, nor did I have to deal with terms-of-service or renewal fees. I also went for a walk everyday. Life is as easy as you make it.

Fitness isn’t just losing weight. I do agree steamed food is a lot healthier choice over fried/junk food.

Amen to that. Congratulations! Those are some solid numbers towards your journey. Thanks for sharing with us all, and I agree that little lifestyle changes have the biggest impact. One has to just stick it out and be consistent which is what you were able to do. Kudos!

Same, I started walking everyday deliberately after the lockdowns started and feel like I am losing weight, from that and also eating out less / cooking more.

This sort of class isn’t really weight loss oriented. This would be better for someone trying to build stability, balance, and coordination. Think catching yourself when you trip, or re-balancing a load when one thing you’re carrying falls off.
If you’re getting up to the level of walking every day, it’d probably be a good compliment, even if only for 60 days.

No, the app is a waste of time. I actually have no desire to sit on my floor and stick my backside up in the air like that photoshopped brunette. Maybe you do. Amex is just peddling imagery.

That’s ok: not everyone has an interest in stability, just like not everyone has an interest in strength, endurance, or weight loss. That doesn’t mean it’s a waste of time, just that it’s not your preference.
