Amex Offers: BP Gas App, Spend $25 & Get $10 or 1,000 Points

Update 11/5/19: More people have been targeted. Don’t forget to stack this with this deal.

The Offer

  • Get a one-time $10 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $25 or more at BP or Amoco using the BPme mobile app by 12/31/2019.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid for automotive fuel purchases made in-app via the US BPme app at participating BP & Amoco US locations.
  • Participating locations can be found by using the BP Station finder within the BPme app.
  • In order to be eligible, you must first load your Card to the US BPme app using a compatible device.
  • Qualifying spend must be met after any BP Rewards are applied to an in-app purchase.
  • Excludes payments not made via the US BPme app, including online transactions, physical gift cards purchased in-store and online, physical location and customer service phone orders, convenience store purchases, car washes, garage/mechanic/repair services, restaurants at BP or Amoco stations, aviation and marine fuel, BP Motor Club, Aral and ampm purchases.

Our Verdict

$10 off $25 is a 40% discount which is terrific for gas (a lot of people value the point even higher than that), and the low $25 threshold also makes it feasible for those with small gas tanks. It does require downloading the app and adding your card(s) there. You can save on cash offer and one points offer to be able to take advantage twice.

When signing up for the BP Gas app you’ll also get 15 cents off your first fillup, so that should be an additional couple dollars of savings.

Is it possible to use this offer on in store purchase?

Xinqing Wang

Not 100% sure but the T&T says that in-store purchases are excluded.

It’s specifically for in-app purchases so I doubt it.

Thanks DOC! I found the offer on my Amex Rose gold card for 1000 MR pts. No BP offer on spouse’s cards (no MR pts cards).

Nice name-drop of the “Rose gold” there!

BP recently retired their old rewards program and this is a new program and I just downloaded and signed up for a new account. Interestingly even if you didn’t get the Amex offer you should sign up because you will get a one time credit of 15 cents and another 5c credit until end of November 30th for every gallon.

Hopefully the Amex offer can be stacked on top of that, I haven’t tried it yet.

Does anyone know ARCO stations are part of the mobile app Amex Offer?

“and the low $25 threshold also makes it feasible for those with small gas tanks.”

My gas tank is around 10 gallons, so I would literally have to be on empty to possibly reach the $25 threshold. So I don’t necessarily know if it is feasible for small gas tanks.

As suggested on SD, buy premium.

No, no — just drive to California and fill up there. Lowest on gasbuddy near me is costco at $3.79 for regular.

According to my app, there are no BP stations in California…

If the gas in your area is less than $2.50/gal then you don’t need a 40% discount because you’re already getting one.. You could always bring a gas can and fill up your Prius later.

missjenniferd1🦉 🦁

bring a 5 gallon gas can. i live in tn, and gas is $2.39, i have a 10 gallon gas tank, so $24. you could bring a 1 gallon gas tank for the last gallon. unless you dont want to wait till you’re near empty… i always do that anyway since even on 1 gallon left in my car i can still go 45 miles (honda insight). if you dont want to wait till you’re near empty, i guess you wont be able to do the deal.

Bring gas cans.

While it’s nice to getv $10 off, this app has a ridiculously long and convoluted registration process, which took me 10 minutes to complete

I got .15 cents per gallon on my first fill up in addition to the AMEX offer

I know the terms indicate app use is required, but for anyone that fills up at BP regularly, I wonder if it would also work outside of the app.

This ties in great if you use Harris Teeter fuel points at BP. Maximizing gets you $1.286 off per gallon at 35 gallons, not counting the BP rewards which would be another $7 off total. Then using a 5% off gas credit card gets you down below $1 a gallon using my local gas prices. Too bad it’s one time use.

If you are talking about BP Driver Rewards program that just ended on Sept 30th and it is replaced with this new program.

Have you successfully done this? I couldn’t figure out how to apply the grocery store discount and use the BPme app at the same time.

No luck. You have to swipe your CC to get the $1 off which unlocks the pump. With the pump already unlocked the app fails. I tried 5 times and couldn’t figure it out so I gave up.

This BP deal is also showing up on AMEX Serve cards as well. You can add the offer on both Serve and personal AMEX credit cards.

I was able to add it from my Everyday card and Serve.

I’ve been having issues adding my Serve card to the app. Anyone else? Frustrating.

Must be targeted. I have 3 Amex and not on one.

Did the BP offer disappear this morning? I looked earlier today on some of my 4 family members accounts and now do not see it. I have so many cards and users, and it is really difficult to find offers either available or added to the cards. Pretty sure I did not add it to an account for any or all of my family members.

We shouldn’t have to watch DoC and quickly add offers before they expire in order to use these Amex offers. Starting to feel it is not worth the effort to manage these. (Amex fault, not DoC!)

Are you saying that first thing in the morning you aren’t checking AMEX offers on 20+ cards?

Larry
Larry

20? Feels like 50+ accounts across 8 logins. in 2017, I took an offer to add 4 authorized users for $25 or 2500 MR each so some of my accounts have 7 authorized users.

If you didn’t have DoC you would be blissfully unaware. That’s the way I see it anyways. If I don’t see it, they were all maximally redeemed or I wasn’t targetted. if it’s not worth the effort, don’t check all your cards.

MisterBill

Are you saying that you clipped it and it disappeared or that it was in your list to clip and now it’s not? I have it loaded onto my card and it’s still there. I used it on one card today but did not get an email. Not sure if anyone else did when using it.

If you’re using the website, it’s easy enough to find loaded offers just by searching on the name. It expires on 12/31 so if you need to just look at the list you can find it there. And remember that AMEX only shows 100 loaded offers so if you have more than that and this one expires after the first 100, it will not show up.

I had the offer this morning and now its gone so I think so.

The nearest station is 25mi away, pretty much defeating the purpose.

Where in the world are these BP stations? Only near or in Mexico? Any close to Los Angeles or Phoenix?
