The Offer
Check your Amex Offers for one of the following deals:
- Get 500 additional Membership Rewards points by using your enrolled Card to spend $100+ to pay your cell phone bill online directly with a US-based wireless telephone provider by 10/22/2019. Limit 3 uses (1,500 Membership Rewards points).
- Get 300 additional Membership Rewards points by using your enrolled Card to spend $100+ to pay your cell phone bill online directly with a US-based wireless telephone provider by 10/22/2019. Limit 3 uses (900 Membership Rewards points).
The Fine Print
- Offer valid only for payments for wireless telephone service charges made directly with US wireless telephone service providers via online, mobile app, or by phone.
- Purchases made with third parties, authorized retailers or resellers are excluded.
- Excludes purchases for VoIP, hardware, equipment, and bundled home/cable services.
- Your transaction also will not qualify if the merchant’s code is not eligible.
- Purchases may fall outside of the offer period in some cases due to a delay in merchants submitting transactions to us or if the purchase date differs from the date you made the transaction (for example, the purchase date for online orders may be the shipping date).
- If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the additional points. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. In addition, in most cases, you may not receive the additional Membership Rewards points if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party.
Our Verdict
I can’t find either of the offers. The cell phone offers are always popular since almost anyone can use them for a bonus 900 or 1,500 points. Far as I know, this offer is only showing in a points version, let us know if you see a cash offer.

Is it $100 or over $100 to trigger the bonus? Planning to pre pay my Verizon bill 3 times.
DP: $100 on AT&T prepaid (paygonline.com) seems to trigger the offer. Received the “congrats you just use amex offer” email instantly.
Also, my previous amex offer on cell phone bill was NOT triggered by Total Wireless payment of ~$90. I forgot the terms of that amex offer but it wasn’t a spending requirement of $100+ like this time.
I got the offer. I’m going to try to make three payments for the annual charge on my Mint service in September. Wish me luck!
did it trigger the offer?
I get the offer on ED. It’s 500 MR additional, so it’s actually 6X. Thanks for the post
Curious if anyone has tried paying their U-verse bill with this…not sure if they code differently or not (I assume they do).
Found on my Gold and ED cards, 500pts with $100+ spend.
I’m sorry for being dumb but I’ve been wanting to ask this for a long, long time now.
What are Membership Reward points? I have the AMEX Cash Magnet, Blue Everyday and the DeltaSky Miles Blue.
I’ve never seen MR Points. Only cash back. What cards offer these MR points?
To name a few Amex Gold, Platinum charge card offer MR point also Amex EveryDay/ Amex Everyday Preferred, but for god sake just google around you should easily find all the answers for your question
Got the 500 point offer on my Amex Plat. 1/3
Last time when they have 10% cash back, I tried google fi, and it seems that the payment was not eligible
Thanks, this is the DP I was looking for. Shame they don’t consider google Fi really.
One thing I think is important to consider, you could lose cell phone insurance benefits, if you normally pay your bill with a card that offers those benefits. I know Wells Fargo and I think the CIP require the entire previous monthly statement to be charged to the card. I made a claim for the first time with WF last year and it saved me nearly $400. If I had put $100 of that months bill on an Amex card, they would have had an easy time denying the claim.
This. Make sure you’re not stepping over a dollar to get a penny.
Actually, a Chase rep told me that ANY portion of your most recent wireless bill charged to your CIP qualifies you for the insurance going forward (split payments included).
What I do is make the paying after my monthly autopay hits and balance is $0. So I have a negative balance until the next cycle. Then when my monthly autopay hits it fully pays for the amount due. So, technically then should not deny a cell phone protection claim.
