[Expired] Amex Offers: Cell Phone Bill, Get 500 Bonus Points With $100 Payment

Deal has expired, view more amex offers by clicking here

The Offer

Check your Amex Offers for one of the following deals:

  • Get 500 additional Membership Rewards points by using your enrolled Card to spend $100+ to pay your cell phone bill online directly with a US-based wireless telephone provider by 10/22/2019. Limit 3 uses (1,500 Membership Rewards points).
  • Get 300 additional Membership Rewards points by using your enrolled Card to spend $100+ to pay your cell phone bill online directly with a US-based wireless telephone provider by 10/22/2019. Limit 3 uses (900 Membership Rewards points).

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid only for payments for wireless telephone service charges made directly with US wireless telephone service providers via online, mobile app, or by phone.
  • Purchases made with third parties, authorized retailers or resellers are excluded.
  • Excludes purchases for VoIP, hardware, equipment, and bundled home/cable services.
  • Your transaction also will not qualify if the merchant’s code is not eligible.
  • Purchases may fall outside of the offer period in some cases due to a delay in merchants submitting transactions to us or if the purchase date differs from the date you made the transaction (for example, the purchase date for online orders may be the shipping date).
  • If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the additional points. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. In addition, in most cases, you may not receive the additional Membership Rewards points if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party.

Our Verdict

I can’t find either of the offers. The cell phone offers are always popular since almost anyone can use them for a bonus 900 or 1,500 points. Far as I know, this offer is only showing in a points version, let us know if you see a cash offer.

MR or UR, which one to go? both 5x

Albie
Albie

do both! bill is $150, split payment, $100 on MR, $50 on UR.

i find UR easier to earn than MR though so MR all the way!

H Xu
H Xu

can not agree more that MR is harder to collect as we have more UR cards with 5x opportunity, but UR has a 1.5c as Miscellaneous Provisions if there is no preferred channel for point/program transfer

You can always earn it all by just prepaid your bill

I wonder if a $300 charge is counted as “3 uses” or 1 use. Any idea?

Fathiss

Why risk? Just make 3 separate $100 payments.

Millennial Outrage

One use. Terms says 300/500 points for every $100+ purchase and can be done up to three times.

Don’t see these offers on my HH biz card. Damn.

Chuck, I recently had a $15 statement credit offer for spending $100 on cell phone. Expires 7/31.

This offer is far inferior to the Wireless offer from Discover ($20 after 2 payments).

Sam
Sam

now gotta get UR cashback first and then make 3 payments on AmEX to get MR.

Got spend $100, receive 300 MR points, up to 3X.

Reminder that CIC gives 5x UR so the 300 point offer isn’t that great, but with the 500 point offer you may come out slightly ahead depending on how you value UR vs MR

David

CIC? Chase infinite card?

Chase Ink Cash

David

I had this on my personal Amex gold card.

David

Spend 100, get 500pts offer, that is.

One thing I think is important to consider, you could lose cell phone insurance benefits, if you normally pay your bill with a card that offers those benefits. I know Wells Fargo and I think the CIP require the entire previous monthly statement to be charged to the card. I made a claim for the first time with WF last year and it saved me nearly $400. If I had put $100 of that months bill on an Amex card, they would have had an easy time denying the claim.

This. Make sure you’re not stepping over a dollar to get a penny.

Akuma

Actually, a Chase rep told me that ANY portion of your most recent wireless bill charged to your CIP qualifies you for the insurance going forward (split payments included).

What I do is make the paying after my monthly autopay hits and balance is $0. So I have a negative balance until the next cycle. Then when my monthly autopay hits it fully pays for the amount due. So, technically then should not deny a cell phone protection claim.

Last time when they have 10% cash back, I tried google fi, and it seems that the payment was not eligible

Thanks, this is the DP I was looking for. Shame they don’t consider google Fi really.

I’m sorry for being dumb but I’ve been wanting to ask this for a long, long time now.

What are Membership Reward points? I have the AMEX Cash Magnet, Blue Everyday and the DeltaSky Miles Blue.

I’ve never seen MR Points. Only cash back. What cards offer these MR points?

LNK
LNK

To name a few Amex Gold, Platinum charge card offer MR point also Amex EveryDay/ Amex Everyday Preferred, but for god sake just google around you should easily find all the answers for your question
