The Fine Print

  • Offer valid only for prepaid hotel bookings with Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection properties made directly with American Express Travel through amextravel.com, the Amex® App, or by calling the phone number on the back of your eligible Card.

Our Verdict

This stacks with the new $200 Platinum credit which makes both offers much more attractive. You also get the regular FHR benefits:

The discount is still in addition to the standard FHR benefits:

  • Noon check-in, when available
  • Room Upgrade upon arrival, when available
  • Daily breakfast for two people
  • Complimentary in room Wi-Fi
  • Guaranteed 4pm late checkout
  • Unique amenity valued at US$100, such as a food and beverage credit or one way private sedan transfer

So I’m at a curio collection hotel booked through Amex travel fhr with my Amex platinum. It says I have $100 dining credit. How do I use this for breakfast? Do I need to inform the front desk? Also, the Hilton Honors Gold status with the platinum offers $15 Food Beverage credit. How can I stack this with the $100 fhr dining credit? Is the $100 credit later by Amex or do the hotel provide the credit.

Will the offer work if you book with points. I guess it should since the charge applies first and then a credit from redeeming points, but is there any data point on this?

OK, I decided to be the data point I was looking for and reserved a two-night stay with a $398/night base rate, $908 total, using points on Nov. 18.
Received both $150 ($150 of $800 FHR Amex offer) and $200 (Platinium FHR credit) credits today, Nov. 20.

DP for stacking offers on sub-$800 base room rate:

Oct. 20: Booked a prepaid FHR stay for next April that had a $734 base room rate, $939 including taxes.
Oct. 23: Received both the $200 Platinum credit and $150 Amex offer credit.

for independent hotels, make sure you check their rates without going through amextravel/orbitz. had a $490 difference on a stay booked for next year. and despite their ‘price match gty’ they would not match, so i booked directly.

Their terms purposely state that the price match guarantee doesn’t work when booking Fine Hotels/Hotel Collection. They know they price them higher, so you really don’t get anything for free.

Wonder if tthere’s a way to double stack this with the foillowing offer:
Spend $500 or more, get $100 back at Waldorf Astoria, Conrad & LXR

800$ stay – 200 FHR – 100 Offer – 150 offer = 350?
Terms do state that a res would have to be made online, but if the folio at Waldorf closes at checkout might code as Hilton-made reservation

If you spend $500 at the hotel after checking in (food, room upgrade, etc), then you’ll get the $100 back.

I’ve done this before with points/cert bookings at a Hilton, then gotten the AO back

Dumb question, but I have a planned stay at a hotel through FHR that will cost over 1k over several nights in the summer next year. For this offer does the stay have to be completed by 12/17 this year or just the booking that can be for anytime?

Booking can be for any time, but charge has to be made by 12/17.

I wasn’t targeted. I have booked and stayed at many hotels through this program earlier this year and I already had several bookings for next week so I don’t know if they target new customers or why I wasn’t targeted.

Which flavor of Platinum do you have? I was targeting on my Vanilla, but not my Schwab.

Used FHR 2x this year, P2 another time; we both got the offer on our Vanillas (and I got it on my Business, too.)

Hard to know what AMEX’s thinking is. I’d just go with the old song:

Don’t try to understand them
Just rope, throw and brand ’em
Soon they’ll be kneeling high and wide
Movin’ movin’ movin’
Movin’ movin’ movin’
Movin’ movin’ movin’
Keep movin’ movin’ movin’
Though they’re disapprovin’
Keep them dogies movin’
Keep them dogies movin’
Keep them dogies movin’
