Amex Offers: Save $25 on $45 Sam’s Club Membership (Stack with Referral, Savings Offer, Portal & More)

Update 11/3/19: Ibotta showing $15 now.

Update 10/9/19: I believe Dosh is now at $20 for everyone (?).

Update 9/18/19: Dosh is now up to $20 for some people. For others it’s still showing $5.

[Update 9/14/19: Added $5 with Dosh, plus two new signup options, see ‘Stacking the Deal’ section below. Also, added a direct link to offer.]

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Get a one-time $25 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to purchase a new Membership online at SamsClub.com/JoinAMEX by 1/31/2020. Not valid in-Club, via mobile app or by phone. See terms for exclusions.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid only on a new Sam’s Club Membership purchased online at US website (SamsClub.com/JoinAMEX) and not valid on memberships purchased in-Club, via mobile app or by phone.
  • Excludes membership renewals, upgrades, add-ons or additional membership or any purchase of Sam’s Club Gift of Membership or Prepaid Sam’s Savings Membership.

Stacking the Deal

  • Register your Amex card for this Amex Offer to get $25 back.
  • There are a bunch of Sam’s signup deals to stack this with (in the past, buying membership without going through the official Sam’s/Amex link has worked to trigger the Amex offer credit, so hopefully the above-mentioned stacks will work, but we’ll have to wait for actual data points to be certain):
    • This signup link seems to give a $25 Sam’s gift card. No confirmations on this working/stacking yet, but I assume it should. (ht Celia)
    • This signup link gives a $20 Sam’s gift card, plus $30 in instant savings.
    • Signup through this link and get a $10 Sam’s gift card + some savings on things like a free rotisserie chicken and much more. (ht Frequentmiler)
    • Signup through a referral link and get a $20 Sam’s gift card – here’s my Sam’s referral link. Just note: while referral links shows $20, in the past they only actually gave a $10 gift card for some reason; I’m not sure if that problem has been corrected or not.
    • If you have an edu. email address, you can use this signup link through UNiDAYS for $15 Sam’s gift card.
  • Click through a shopping portal, Topcashback is currently at 7% on membership and BeFrugal is 15% on membership. It may not track since you’ll be using a special referral link, but it’s worked for me in the past, and reader’s confirm that it’s working this time too. Just click through and then go to the referral page and  hopefully the browser cookies will retain the tracking.
  • Link your Amex card with Dosh and get $20 back when you buy a Sam’s membership + 4% 5% back on purchases. (If you are new to Dosh, you can signup with my referral code CHUCKS2 and get $1 bonus when you link a card.) Wait 24 hours from time of linking card to time of making purchase.
    • There are often other card-link deals from places like Acorns which can stack too; Dosh is the only one we see now.
  • New Sam’s members can get a slew of freebies by playing their treasure hunt.
  • You may have the Amex Offer for 4x Membership Rewards points per dollar on Sam’s Club purchases. That’ll hopefully work on the membership purchase as well.

Our Verdict

I bought Sam’s membership with a different Amex Offer, earlier this year. At that time, there were a few other stacks, but it’s pretty good here as well for someone who can make use of the membership.

In the past, buying membership without going through the official Sam’s/Amex link has worked to trigger the Amex offer credit, so hopefully the above-mentioned stacks will work, but we’ll have to wait for actual data points to be certain.

After the Amex Offer, the cost is down to $20. You should be able to recoup that and potentially more with the other stacks.

Thanks for the breakdown. My sister fell in love with Sam’s (shrug) so you confirmed the best deal of referral from myself and the Amex offer. Was really hoping for the $45 Scan and Go offer to come back 🙂

Took a cue from the last time I did this: Opened Amex link, referred my sister, opened that email in another tab and then clicked through the $25 promo link and paid with her Amex that had the offer. So far I’ve gotten the $10 referral for me and the $25 egift card is supposed to be 5-7 days and waiting on the Amex charge to post for a $25 credit. Amex did have a note on my final checkout page to look out for the $25 statement credit. Best case, $60 for the $45 membership. Worse case a free membership (10+10 referral + 25 Amex)

I clicked on the Amex link but then only saw a registration page. Where do you go to send the referral link?

Celia

First I signed up for the $25 promo code at http://www.specialcluboffer.com/scanandgo25/

Then, I generated a referral from my account at https://www.samsclub.com/sams/account/referal/generateReferralURL.jsp and sent to my sister’s email

First opened referral URL. Then opened another tab with SamsClub.com/JoinAMEX. Then went to the email with the $25 promo code and went through the redeem and signed up on that page.

One question: how can I utilize this offer if I am a existing sam’s club membership. Could I wait it to be expired and then get a new one? Thanks

Just sign up as a new member using a different email address.

Don’t you have to join through the “samsclub.com/joinamex” link per the T&C? Any DP on this?

I tried the links and got nothing.

Note, the “$70 in savings” from FMs link includes $60 on the installation of four tires purchased. Pretty limited opportunity for most!

The “$70 savings” flyer says offer ends Jan 31, 2019 but fine print at the bottom says “Deal must be redeemed between Oct 1st 2018 and July 31st 2019” . And also, when you click print button on the wepgaes it prints out “Ends July 31st 2019” any idea if this offer is still valid? I am trying to get free tire installation. Thanks…

Looking for a DP:

my Sam’s club membership aniversary comes up end of October.

Can I let my membership expire and then sign up for a new one right after using this offer?
Or are there any restrictions about wait times or sth.?

TIA 🙂

just use a new email. I usually cross over a few weeks so I can refer my spouse. We switch off each year. Make sure you get the referree gift card while you have an active membership.

Sams Club doesn’t care and they’re not picky at all so you can just use a diff email (and diff phone if you have another number) to become a “new member” — Costco on the other hand will track you by your state ID/license so you can’t do that same with them.

Currently have two memberships going with Sams (one from last Dec and another from March) — I’ll hold off on starting a new one until Jan unless a big money maker offer comes up before then

I see $5 off on DOSH. Should stack

I’m a bit confused as to how I can work out the best deal here. The samsclub.com/joinAMEX URL has the special bit at the top about getting the $25 GC, the two links you have listed as “signup offers” don’t have that bit. Is Amex really picky about the URL you use?

Additionally, I have a mailed signup offer for $20 gift card after joining for $45, which it says can be done online at samsclub.com/getmembership — although there is a code at the bottom that says “Associate Instructions” — so what’s the best way to pull this off?

I have BeFrugal, TopCashback, and Dosh (and see the $5 on new membership offer there) as well.

If you have an American Express Card(s) that is/are not issued by American Express, you can try enrolling in this offer from the following link:
https://www.americanexpress.com/us/network/shopping.html
https://www.americanexpress.com/us/network/shopping/doe-offer-detail.html?offer=327613
Not sure if it will definitely work as I don’t have that type of American Express card but it came up while searching on Google.

Lastly, if you have a myunidays account (free with a valid student/teacher/school email address ending with .edu), you can get a free $15 Sam’s Club gift card when signing up for a new membership. Here’s the link with all the details if anyone qualifies and is interested:

I just used your first link to get the offer on my BBVA card. I probably won’t use it since there are no Sam’s Clubs anywhere near me.

Chuck New offer for Sam’s https://www.specialcluboffer.com/scanandgo25/ that would make the Amex offer a $5 money maker.

DP: No instant email from AMEX. $20 GC shows on the order receipt, yet I do not see it.

Topcashback tracked, gives $3.XX. Treasure Hunt is still alive, already used it in store for free pizza slice and drink

Should I have gotten the email right away that the Amex offer was used or did I mess up?

Jacob

Did you go through the scan and go link? Interested in DP. People from last time around said the credit didn’t post until the membership charge posted. Keep us updated

Celia
Celia

Sam’s offers with Amex are notoriously lacking emails that say you redeemed. As long as your charge posts as new membership, not the pending line, you should be fine.

Aren’t they requiring you to go to SamsClub.com/JoinAMEX? So the other links won’t work?

Has anyone received the $25 Amex credit yet using a link other than the SamsClub.com/joinAMEX link?

If you use gmail, you could get many “alias” of your email address by adding dots anywhere in the username field, or use + to create more formal alias.
E.g.

will be treated the same as bo.b@gmail.com, so are
