Update 10/22/21: Apparently this was an error according to 9to5mac.
Update 10/21/21: This offer ran in 2019 and is back for 2021. It’s not yet being advertised, but is showing in-app. Presumably it’ll be valid through December 31st again. Hat tip to 9to5mac
The Offer
- Apple is increasing the Daily Cash on Apple Card from 3% to 6% on Apple purchases through December 31.
The Fine Print
- Purchases from Apple Media Services and AppleCare+ monthly payments, as well as any Apple iPhone Payments or Apple iPhone Upgrade program charges to your account outside of the promotional period, are ineligible. Additional details apply; see https://www.apple.com/apple-card/ for more information.
Our Verdict
Looks like it’s all automatic, for new or existing Apple Cardholders. Should work for store purchases and online purchases.
Nice little bump there for Apple purchases, it could even make sense to apply for the card if you have some really large Apple purchases to make. Might be worth waiting to see if there are any portal bumps between now and December 31.

Deal is back thru end of the year with 5% back on apple purchases (and there’s still targeted credit karma $75 SUB) William Charles
found a link https://www.apple.com/apple-card/#promotion
also states only valid on non pay-over-time purchases (which i actually didn’t see in the Goldman Sachs terms during application process but I’m sure it’s buried somewhere)

According to apple insider Apple will still honor the 6% if you happen to purchase something when this was going on. https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/10/22/apple-will-honor-erroneous-6-apple-card-daily-cash-offer
9to5Mac reports that this was an error and it has been reverted to 3% for everyone. I also asked Apple and Goldman Sachs reps about this and they either played dumb or just denied it.
A user on the Apple Reddit posted that they talked to support and it may have been a bug…but maybe they will still bring the offer back officially soon?

“In some cases, customers received a 6% Daily Cash reward on their purchases erroneously. We know this is a little confusing and I would be asking the same questions if I was in your position. This error was applied to a small group of accounts and has been rectified. would be happy to file a complaint on your behalf regarding your dissatisfaction with our resolution of the reward error.“

Thanks, DoC! Great way to save on new Apple toys!
Not a bad deal, and I actually just pre-ordered the 16″ M1 Max, but I went with the Ink Cash instead. Transferring the 82,500 points (75,000 SUB + 7,500 for spend) points over to Reserve, cashing out at 1.5x for $1,237 cash back, which is 16.5% of my spend. A bit more work and not for the faint of heart, but this is DoC so I thought I’d share.
Does Apple code as 5% CB or did you buy it fully maxed? I wanted to get a 16″ M1 Max as well, and was figuring out the best way to do it, going for a SUB definitely seems like the best way to go.
Is 1.5x CSR only? CSP only shows 1x
Bought a macbook on 10.18 and the charge posted today with 6%
Neither my 10/18 Preorder of a MBP M1Max (which hasn’t appeared on my Apple Card anyways) nor my
10/21 AirTags order display 6%… Apple Card Goldman Sachs says that there is no 6% back promotion.
Think I’m pulling the trigger on the new macbook pro. Thinking the best play here is apple gc via Amazon using affinity 10% cb. Anyone have any better plays? Could wait for the target/best buy deals on apple gc, but they’re usually limited. Need about $1500. Get edu discount via apple store and trade in of my current is at $1430.
what is affinity? I tried google searching and no luck…. But I would think gc purchases would be excluded from CB as that’s how it usually works but definitely keep me updated. If this does work then it would be the best play that I’ve seen so far!
They’re credit union. Can search for them here on DoC. They have a credit card which has offered 10% back at amazon in Q4 the past two years. No one knows if they’ll continue to offer it though.
Was thinking about buying the new iPhone. Figured they exclude that specifically…
I think it applies for new iPhones, just not payments towards an already purchased one.
oooh! That’s good then. Thanks for clarifying that for me. Maybe its time I buy one of these things finally
