  • Bonus points will post to your account within a week of the transaction posting, and will appear on your monthly credit card billing statement and be available for use within 1-2 billing cycles.

  • This promotional offer is non-transferable.
  • For more information about your rewards program, see your Rewards Program Agreement.

Our Verdict

Keep in mind it’s a total of 10x points, so that includes the 1x base point or 1.5% that the Freedom Unlimited offers. Very similar deal for Walmart just launched as well. This offer states it’s also non-transferable, but it’s available to all Chase UR personal cardholders. Despite there being no ink for the Chase Sapphire Preferred people are earning 10x on those purchases as well.  You can view other Best Buy promotions by clicking here. You can only use Chase Pay on Best Buy purchases in store so keep that in mind. No registration is required.

The others appear to be pulling up for me by swapping out the card name at the end of the URL. Freedom, sapphire, etc

The Freedom Unlimited link isn’t working – missing out on that sweet 1.5X I’d like to pair with this bonus.

Actually i figured it out – there’s a question mark added in your link. Remove the question mark and the FU works.

if its like the walmart one, it will be a total of 10x. with walmart and freedom, its an extra 5% ontop of the 5% quarterly.

Online only or in store too?

Bob

I dont think this will work online. Cant see the “pay with Chase Pay” option anywhere on BB checkout website

Rene
Rene

Yeah. Looks like it. https://www.chase.com/digital/digital-payments/merchant-chasepay/merchant-partners lists Bestbuy.com as “in-store” only.

Yep, Thanks for the link.

do they sell visa gift cards?

Bob
Bob

They do. But its a hit or a miss. They have VGC issued by Metabank upto $200

Be aware they might be out due to the AMEX offer 25 off 250 that’s been a going on, so don’t give up hope if you don’t see any.

Some have it some don’t. I have a best buy that hides it at the cashier. The cashier is hella cool too lets me buys $1000s at a time and split between 4 payments whenever the amex deal comes.

I’ll test this out tonight on the way home from work and report back.

So with two CF, I could buy 4x 200 VGC?

Drivesabrowntruck

Correct, they ran something like this and the Walmart one a few months ago only in Walmart.com, all UR earning cards were eligible.

Is there a link for Sapphire Preferred?

Gary
Gary

This link says you can use your Sapphire card, implying that Preferred will work too.

Umm…can you buy the iphone using this???

Steve
Steve

I have the same question, did you find away to purchase the iphone this way? Or pay $400 of the installments?

Steve
Steve

I ended up going to Best Buy to buy the Iphone X and I requested to pay off $400+$88 sales tax of the phone there. The 4,088 points posted today. Big win

Question: is the $400 limit per account or per card? And I guess there is no need to register or activate.

Aks

I called CS to check if offer is per card or per pay account?
It took a while for CS to get promotion. But CS mentioned the promotion is per Chase Pay account.

I can confirm all cards in my chase pay account are getting 4000 points for buying $400 Best Buy gift cards. 4 cards in one chase pay account. Sale posted “rewards earned: 4000” next to each charge.

NinjaX
NinjaX

just to clarify, you mean 4000 x 4 right? and all 4 cards are under one account? it should be PER CC. not per account so doesnt matter u have all 4 cards under one login.

Yes, correct I was just responding to AKS, who was wrongly informed by the chase rep.

Update: went to a second store that had VGC in stock, bought two, employee scanned the QR code on Chase Pay, receipt printed out no problem. Was actually a lot faster than Apple Pay from the limited times I’ve used it.

Update: 11/24. Charge has posted and received 1x normal points and 9x Chase Pay Best Buy Bonus. Total amount was for $411.90 and now have 4011.90 UR points pending for next statement. You can click the transaction in the Chase mobile app to look at pending pints per transaction .

For those interested in the Fitbit Ionic, Best Buy is also offering a deal of a free $50 e-gift card included with the order at full price $299 (Minus 10x points for this Chase Pay offer). I bought the Ionic 2 weeks ago and love it. Bought it from Fitbit.com and received 10% back from TopCashBack but may actually return it to get this superior offer.

split the payment .use CSR chase pay of 400$ it go through and then change to freedom for another 400$ can not go through .log out and log in again and refresh the QR code also can not go through. lost 40$ lol!

Peter
Peter

Same experience here! First paid $250 via physical Chip AMEX for AMEX Offer, then paid $400 via Chase Pay Freedom then attempted to pay balance via Chase Pay CSR. POS showed message along the lines of “mobile payment authorization error”.

Looks like Chase/Best Buy POS can’t authorize Chase Pay for multiple cards in the same transaction. Not sure why I’d use Chase Pay outside of this promo since it’s clearly inferior to using the cards or Apple/Samsung/Android Pay since I can split them no problem.

nick

couldnt you just buy best buy gift cards in separate transactions, then use those GCs to buy whatever large purchase you were going to make?

Peter
Peter

Yes you can. But on Black Friday doing multiple transactions isn’t nice in a long line. Also, you lose warranty, price protection, etc if pay with the gift cards buying electronics.

Main point is that Chase Pay is worse than using a credit card at Best Buy since you can only have 1 Chase Pay in a split payment transaction whereas you can split with I think 8 credit cards. So other than taking advantage of the bonus rewards, no reason to use Chase Pay otherwise.
