Citi and AT&T have agreed to a multi year extension to their cobranded credit card deal. Citi first partnered with AT&T in 1997 but then in 2015 introduced new cards, unfortunately the popular Access More card was discontinued in 2016. It’s possible we will see some sort of improvement with this renewal with Citi Head of U.S. Branded Cards and Lending Pam Habner stating:
…to continuing to work together to deepen and expand the partnership to deliver meaningful benefits and value to a digitally engaged consumer base
Hat tip to PYMNTS
Lol that quote
Had the AT&T Universal card from 1999 to about when Double Cash was introduced and then changed. But that AT&T is not this AT&T. This one was Cingular which was Southwest Bell or something along those lines.
I think they were partners even before the Access card in 2015. They offered the old Universal card for years before that, even if it was not actively marketed toward 2015.
This is ancient history but an interesting footnote, AT&T had actually been partners with Citi since around 1997, when Citi was issuing the old AT&T Universal card. Features included a calling card number (remember those) on the same piece of plastic as the credit card. Had one in college, cancelled it somewhere around 2009. But they’ve been partners, at least on-and-off, since way before 2015.
I still have my Universal Card!!! Worthless hunk of plastic but looks gooooood on the credit report.
Yes, I remember the card. Had one a long time ago!
