Our Verdict

The latest best offer was 60,000 points online or 70,000/75,00 in branch; this online offer is at 80,000, highest ever. Lately some people are getting an option to redeem points on the Premier for a straightforward 1 cent-per-point, hopefully that will work for you if you want cash from this.

As always make sure you read these things everybody should know about Citi credit cards before applying. We’ll add this to our list of the best credit card sign up bonuses.

Was able to snag the 80k offer a few weeks back, but Citi gave me an absurdly low CL of 2k. Anybody know if they penalize you for making multiple payments per statement cycle? I wanna get the spend over with without waiting two cycles.

Yep, deal is toast…back down to 60,000 as of 1/16/23, if not sooner. 🙁 Snoozed and lost, I may go with Chase Sapphire instead, as I’m pre-approved for that, and the bonuses are now identical. It’d be a great way to pay my RIDICULOUS upcoming homeowners insurance.

Not anymore, page says it’s temporarily offline. Deal is done

That link doesn’t work for me anymore, William. When you click on the application link, it says “This page is temporarily unavailable. Please try again.”

From other sites, I’ve heard Citi will match a higher points offer within 90 days of when you apply. YMMV but I’m definitely going to call them and see if this is a possibility. Might still apply under the 60k because it’s still a great offer to me

Instantly denied today due to low credit utilization. Called citi, they didn’t want to reconsider. 807 score, 1% utilization, no mortgage, no rent, VERY high income. The sole reason is credit utilization as the lady on the phone confirmed.

Is there any negative consequence of denial other than hard inquiry in my credit report? Will I have problems with future attempts at other banks?

Approved for this in Jan ‘22. Called CS to cancel so dont get hit by AF. She gave me $95 credit with same amount spend to offset AF

P2 instant denial. Have been churning for 6 years and P2’s first ever denial. 3/24 as have been hitting business cards pretty hard.

Same here, P2 Denial as well. We both got the card a bit over 2 years ago. Not much changed, a little odd really.

Instant approval 80k SUB. Applied through Citi app from my Costco Citi Visa. Got denied once in August. TY for all the DP’s.

Another DP: was approved instantly, $11K limit. ~5-10% utilization of $60K in overall credit. 3/24, but 5 hard inquiries in the past 12 months.

Alternate data point about Citi (not premier): Supposedly they are coming out with two new cards this year. FYI if anyone was under 5/24, or was afraid of only getting approved for 1 Citi card.

Several YouTubers in the space have covered it.

Yeah they are basing it off https://www.doctorofcredit.com/citi-files-trademarks-for-citi-strata-premier-citi-strata-elite-new-credit-cards/ but DoC the great himself said it doesn’t mean shit. Also the YouTubers don’t have any inside knowledge either.
