Citi Rewards+: 20,000 Point Sign Up Bonus

Update 10/14/19: This deal is being offered again. Keep in mind there is an in branch 30,000/40,000 points. Hat tip to reader Khmalh

The Offer

Direct link to offer (seems to only be available via Credit Karma)

  • Citi is offering an increased sign up bonus on the Citi Rewards+ card, 20,000 Citi ThankYou points after $1,500 in purchases within the first three months

Card Details

  • No annual fee
  • Card earns ThankYou points
  • Earn 2x points on grocery and gas, up to $6,000 per year, then 1x
  • Earn 1x points on everything else
  • Bonus ThankYou Points are not available if you received a new cardmember bonus for Citi Rewards+℠, Citi ThankYou®Preferred, Citi ThankYou® Premier/Citi Premier℠ or Citi Prestige®, or if you have closed any of these cards, in the past 24 months.
  • Low intro rate on purchases and balance transfers
  • 3% foreign transaction fee
  • 10% rebate on all redeemed points each year, on up to the first 100,000 redeemed points

Our Verdict

Launch sign up bonus was 15,000 points, we also saw a 10,000 point + $100 live nation credit. Still not really worth it because of the 24 month restrictive language, better to get a sign up bonus on the Premier or Prestige.  If you have any questions about Citi cards, read this post as they are most likely answered there.

I recently received the 15,000 point bonus… So I just called up and asked if they can match this offer. They said yes. Thx for posting, got 5,000 extra points

the difference between the 15k and 20k offer is that the 15k requires 1k in spend, while the 20k requires 1.5k spend. make sure that they didn’t change your requirement. i signed up for the same deal (15k) and will call them and see if i can get the 5k. thanks for the tip!

If one already has too many citi cards, is there any kind of restriction on this one? Thank you

No hat tips?

What if one has had the Premier version for more than 24 months? Would it make sense to apply for this card first and cancel the Premier card after?

T&C “Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you received a new cardmember bonus for Citi Rewards+℠, Citi ThankYou® Preferred, Citi ThankYou® Premier/Citi Premier℠ or Citi Prestige®, or if you have closed any of these accounts, in the past 24 months.”

You need to check when you got the bonus. Look through your existing Premier statement and then apply. You can apply for Premier itself if you want.

Question, would it be worth it for me to get a miles card whatsoever, if I am on the No Fly List. Been on it for awhile. Don’t ask. It’s because of a stupid thing I did as a kid. I know this isn’t a miles card

Bummer! Have not signed up for a new card with Citi for ages! Yet, turned down immediately with a letter forthcoming. I suspect too many apps or credit or something. I’ll call for reconsideration after I get the letter but suspect I am outta luck.

Any tips for the Recon call would be appreciated!

For me, the link shows 20000 points after 1500 spend, not 1000 spend as it’s posted in the OP.

The $200 for 1500spend is gone from

Does anyone have a pdf of the offer as I need it to verify at citi what I appld for

Does anyone have experience with opening multiple Citi cards for the bonus?

For example, if it’s been 24 months since you’ve received a TYP bonus, and 24 months since you closed a TYP card, could you open say the TY Premier and the Rewards + and arrange it to hit your min spend on both the same day? You’d technically fall within the terms of

“Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you received a new cardmember bonus for Citi Rewards+℠, Citi ThankYou® Preferred, Citi ThankYou® Premier/Citi Premier℠ or Citi Prestige®, or if you have closed any of these accounts, in the past 24 months.”

Was anyone able to get Citi to match for the in-branch bonus offer? I was in the middle of a spend promo for the card and I would love to up the offer. Thanks!
