Our Verdict
Some people have the option to cashout Citi TYP at 1¢, if you’re going to do that then this is better value. Lowe’s is only the really attractive option and even that isn’t great.
For the Sears card – anyone know if they removed the option for redeeming points at 1c for your mortgage? I would do that at the end of each year the last few years – redeem all those amazing bonus points at full value, but it’s no longer listed as an option when I sign in. Anyone know if it is gone for good? Any other way to get near 1c besides having to get way too many gift cards?
At least for the Citi Sears TYP card, base points from spend expire on 12/31 three full years after earning. I have utilized the discounted GC cash out option each Dec to burn off any expiring points. I’ve done this as well with Amazon shop with points, but the ROR is worse than .01/pt you get for GCs. Note that the bonus TYPs don’t expire.
Mayfair isn’t that bad. I find lots of cookwares of Mayfair have better prices than Amazon.
