Get Disney Card Perks/Disconts With Chase Checking Account Debit Card (Disney Version)

Reader Johnny tips of off that if you have a Chase checking account there’s an option to choose the Disney version of the debit card (instead of getting the standard version). When choosing that version, you’ll get all the Disney discounts and perks that come with the Chase Disney credit card. You can review all Disney card perks in this post about the Chase Disney credit card.

Obviously you won’t get the credit card cash back, just the Disney perks like 10% back at Disney store and the like. Easy way to get these perks for Chase checking account customers without needing a credit card signup. Here’s the number to call to make the switch.

Thanks to Johnny for sending this in; I see a few other readers mentioned this over the years in the comments of the previous post as well.

I thought this was common sense but thanks for the post because many people probably didn’t know.
Related DP: I was able to use Apple Pay to show the card (on my phone) and participated in the Disney VISA Character Experiences more than once. The greeter was pretty friendly so it wasn’t too hard.
Also, multiple cards would allow you to participate multiple times if that’s something you want. Three characters rotate each day in the DCA spot. Not sure about the Star Wars one.

Confirmed that you can send a secure message on your Chase portal to request the switch of debit card. Also there are six designs you can choose from so it’ll help to specify up front: https://disneydebit.com/card-designs/

A few years ago, at WDW, we found that the Disney DC was good for some, but not all, things (e.g. character meets) that Disney CC was good for. We only used it once, and wouldn’t have missed it.

Also if you have a regular Chase DC, you can always switch it for a Disney DC, but allow time to receive it.

When I had the credit card you got a 10% discount. I’ve always used the Disney card but it’s possible to show the card and use another or do a sneaky swap after showing it. They input the discount so it isn’t dependent on the card.

I’m pretty sure the character meet & greet at Disney World is currently suspended due to Covid.

The Epcot meet and greet has been closed for construction but should be open late next year.

If you close your Chase account, hang onto the Disney debit. You don’t actually have to use it (despite what the rules say) to get the discount at the Disney store. That way instead of prices being an arm and a leg, they’re an arm and a foot.
