- Shell FCU is offering a $250 bonus when you open a new checking account and complete the following requirements:
- Receive at least $2,000 in consumer Automatic Clearing House (ACH) direct deposits
- Enroll in eStatements
- Access digital banking
The Fine Print
- With a $5 initial deposit, anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or regularly conducts business in Harris County, TX, can bank with Shell FCU. Other restrictions may apply.
- Offer valid through December 31, 2026.
- A new checking account is defined as the member’s first consumer checking account with Shell FCU.
- Earn $250 when the following are met within 90 days of account opening: open a new Checking or eChecking account with a $1 deposit, 2receive at least $2,000 in consumer Automatic Clearing House (ACH) direct deposits, 3enroll in eStatements with a valid email address, and 4access your account in Digital Banking.
- ACH deposits must be prearranged such as payroll, government benefits or other similar prearranged deposits.
- ACH deposits originated in Digital Banking or by Shell FCU do not qualify.
- Promotion must be mentioned to the Shell FCU representative at account opening.
- Shell FCU reserves the right to modify or discontinue the promotion without notice.
- If warranted, 1099 forms will be issued the following January. Incentives will be withheld for accounts closed within six months. I
- f funds are unavailable at closing, the account will be overdrawn and the account holder responsible for repayment.
- Existing Members: Earn a $50 reward for each person you refer who opens a new Shell FCU Checking Account and completes the required qualifications within 90 days of account opening.
- Qualifications include opening a new checking account, receiving at least $2,000 in qualifying direct deposits, enrolling in eStatements, and accessing the account through Digital Banking. Referring members must be in good standing to receive the reward.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Might be possible to open online here, but terms do say you must mention the promo at account opening so not sure if that is possible online or not.
