Our Verdict

We saw 125,000 + $100 via dummy booking late last/early this year. We have also seen the following deals before:

Because of these offers this 130,000 point offer without the annual fee waived isn’t very attractive. I’d recommend waiting for a bigger bonus to return before signing up and won’t be adding this to the best credit card bonus page.

did anyone sign up for this card and then have AMEX tell them they weren’t eligible for a welcome offer?

125k + $100 statement credit is still available (and is a better offer)  William Charles

Not one I can seem to seem to make stick. If you do a dummy booking you’ll see the 75k + $100 for the no AF Hilton card for $1k spend in the bottom right corner. If you click that it pulls up a tab with that option as well as a Surpass with 125k + $100 for $2k spend & a separate tab for the biz card with 125k +$100 for $3k spend.

Thanks, I was just approved for 125K + $100 SC for $3k spend through dummy booking. Logged in on Hilton’s site and the cc ad was in the bottom right hand corner on the page where you enter your payment info for a reservation. Didn’t load in incognito, but did in regular Chrome. Have to click on the tab on the right within the window to see the biz offer.

last time i tried this, before submitting the application, the pop up said i don’t qualify for the welcome bonus. I haven’t had this biz card ever before, had the surpass before and currently still have the no fee version. not sure why. anyone else have the similar exp??

yes, even with spending on other amex cards. Guess I’m not spending enough. I also don’t cancel cards before annual fee is due and many times keep the card.

FWIW, Surpass is at 140,000 and Hilton Honors is at 95,000 with incognito referral link.

If you buy VGCs from grocery stores, are they going to award the points or award them and claw them back?

From grocery stores? If the stores submit Level Three data – then there may be a problem. If not, they’re unlikely to notice at all. IME (and this may be local to my area) Safeway stores, whatever the brand, do submit Level Three data, but Krogers don’t. YMMV.

With the Hilton biz you’d be looking about $450 in vgc fees and the opportunity cost from using a 3% CB card for 45k Hilton point & a FNC. So don’t do that.

That’s not right. $450 for $3000 in VGCs?
At most I’ve spent $40 MS-ing $3000 in groceries.

I was assuming you’d spend $15k for the FNC, just for the SUB yeah go nuts

AMEX Hilton offer values, for future reference, assuming 0.5 cpp:

125,000 Point Offer + $100 credit via dummy booking (AF not waived) = $630 value
125,000 Point Offer + $50 Statement Credit (AF not waived) = $580 value
130,000 Point Offer (AF not waived) = $555 value
100,000 Point Offer + $50 Statement Credit (AF waived) = $550 value

Thanks for this.

How many of those are able to be reached with RAF though?

This current one has $555 + 15-30k MR on top which I would value at = ~$225 – $450 more (MR @ 1.5cpp)

I just cancelled this card – around last year, I got a sign-up bonus + a free weekend night that I thought was quite useful.
