The Offers

Our Verdict

These are competitive and better than the offers we saw from the recent increased round.  Because of that we will be adding these to our best credit card bonus page.

I got offered 50k + $300 on two different browsers just looking at cheap flights. Opened a new browser and searched for expensive, first class flights, and then got the offer for 50k + $500. Not sure if the expense of the flight actually made a difference, but worth checking out.

I just had the 50K + $500 offer while looking up a flight. I went away from the computer and had to log back in and I was going to take the offer, and it changed to 50K + $300. The second time, I had chosen a more expensive option for comfort plus, but got the lower offer. Is there a minimum Delta purchase to get the $300 or $500 back? There is a significant discount on Delta gift cards available.

There is a better 90K after 3K send in 6 months offer for the Gold ($150 fee waived for first year) when you sign up for a delta miles account. It may not apply for most people as almost everyone has already gotten a Delta skymies. I never had one , but found it while I was creating a Skymiles account # to input on my 80k offer. Then I ditched the 80K offer and continued with the 90K offer and got approved.  Chuck

Just applied for the Gold Business and got declined. The reason was I have a maximum number of cards…LOL.

Do you cancel the card then before the year is up so you don’t get charged the annual fee for the next year?

Never cancel before waiting a full year, companies don’t like that. Instead, wait the year and for the annual fee to hit. Then call and see if they have any retention offers to offset the fee. If not, cancel and they will refund the fee. Same outcome, but you maintain a better reputation with the company.

Canceling in the first year can lead to a claw back of points and/or bad standing with the company on future products.

Don’t f with Amex on this unless you wanna join the pop-up jail community. I had to learn the hard way. Read the terms & conditions. You’ll have to eat the AF for at least 2 years before you cancel your card.

Got a targeted offer in snail mail for the Platinum. 100K after $5K spend in 6 months. URL is http://delta.com/100kplatinum and requires Skymiles member ID. After logging in, I also saw an 85K offer for the Gold ($4K spend in 6 months).

There is also a 100K offer for the Reserve.

Yes. That’s what it means. The same offers show up in my referral links. Try that instead.
