New Chase Preapproved Offer Method To Bypass 5/24 (“You’re Already Approved”)

Update 9/8/19: reader Swany got this now on a few cards, image below. (Note: this ‘already approved’ offer probably does not take care of the 48-month rule, so if you already have/had a Sapphire card, you likely won’t get the bonus.)

So there are 3 potential offers you’ll see in the Offers For You:

  • “Already Approved” green tag with stated credit lines and fixed APR, no income entry required during application; this should bypass 5/24 and should always be approved.
  • “You’re pre-qualified” black tag with fixed APR, no stated credit line, asks for income during application; this should bypass 5/24 making you eligible for approval.
  • “Special Offer” with no set APR or credit line; this kind will not bypass 5/24.

(We originally wrote here that the ‘already approved’ offer has a variable APR, but reader Swany clarified that it was the ‘Special Offer’ that had no fixed APR while the ‘already approved’ offer did have a fixed APR.)

Original Post:

Reader Major sent in a tip that there’s a new kind of Just For You offer which essentially shows a preapproval offer and it worked for them to bypass 5/24. It shows in the position where we usually have JUST FOR YOU offers, but the title is different and states: “(your name), you have already be approved for a Chase Sapphire Preferred with ($xx) credit limit.” Here’s what it looks like:

Let us know if you see this and if it works for you to bypass 5/24. For more background on 5/24 and Just For You offers, check out these posts:

Check your credit report, if it shows up there it will count against 5/24. Chances are it probably does

I got the same offer back in May for a CSP. Same “you’re already approved” language. I was 6/24 and got an instant approval.

I have exactly this same one for chase sapphire preferred for 60k bonus as shown above with same language. But it also says bonus not available if one had gotten this offer within last 48 months…..

So what do i do?

I m on the same boat, i chose not to apply, we wont get the bonus

But what is the risk here? If not eligible for bonus, card will not be approved.
I’m not even sure you’ll get a credit report pull.

Adam

Why do you think that? They could easily approve you for the card but deem you ineligible.

@Adam No. Approval = UR pts

phil That is not true.

NO…Approval means…you get an account/card that you can use….it does not guarantee you get the bonus……If you are not qualified to recieve a bonus, you my not.

chase 48 month sapphire restriction is completely different from 5/24. if you do not meet the 48 month restriction, then it is not worth applying to bypass 5/24

Is it 48 months from the time you got the bonus or 48 months from when you cancel the card? My spouse is coming up on the 48 months since getting the bonus. Wondering if I should do that one again.

48 mths since you recd bonus. He should apply for both CSR/CSP via MDD.

Can’t you only one Sapphire now? So it’s either one, right?

Frank

Yeah. This is what I’m afraid of too. I’m about 14 months away. Maybe Chase will bring back the 100k bonus for the CSR to celebrate its 4 year anniversary when it’s time that I’ll qualify for a bonus again bahaha.

O.M.G. I would love that.

I applied with these circumstances. Instant rejection due to 48 month welcome offer restriction. No credit pull happened (thankfully) and no reconsideration.
Not sure why I was targeted in the first place.

Chase won’t approve you if are ineligible for the bonus.

You could get approved for the card even if you are ineligible for the bonus.

Correct. Lots of data points on FT. Approval=points.

I tried it (honestly wasn’t sure how long it’d been since I got a Sapphire bonus). They just turn you down.

I got the pre qualified offer for CSP and was auto approved. I am around 15/24. Last time I had the card was around 2014/15.

The terms on my CSP application says this: This product is not available to either current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or previous cardmembers who received a new cardmember bonus for any Sapphire credit card within the last 48 months.

My interpretation is that they wont approve you if you got a bonus within the last 48 months which means if they approve you, you will get the bonus. The pre qualified offers with fixed apr bypasses 5/24 but not 48 months.

will this bypass the sapphire 48 month rule too?

People getting these offers need to tell us their x/24 count. And if they put spend on their current chase cards. Do they have money in chase savings or big direct deposits. Otherwise this info is pretty useless.

Had an odd thing happen. My spouse is at 4/24. She had a CSP 60K offer pop up a week or so ago. She did not apply though and the offer doesn’t show anymore when she logs in to her Chase account. I went ahead and applied for her today and got denied instantly. Really weird. It’s been over 48 months since she had the CSP as well.

Hmm, I had the Chase Business Ink Cash in my ‘Just For You’ offers, but I did not have any pre-approval language. I applied anyway (7/25/19), I’m beyond lol/24, and received the dreaded we’ll notify you by US Mail 7-10 business days. Oh well, so I thought. Much to my surprise I was notified of approval later that same day.
