[Expired] Office Depot/Max: $15 Off $125 On Happy Gift Cards (Lady, Bites, Eats Dining)

Deal has expired, view more Office Depot/Max deals by clicking here.

The Offer

No direct link, showing up in store

  • Office Depot/Max is offering $15 off when you purchase $125 or more in Happy Lady, Happy Bites, Happy Eats or Happy Dining gift cards

The Fine Print

  • Valid from 12/20 until 12/24/2018

Our Verdict

Don’t forget to use a card that earns at a high rate on office supply store purchases. There’s also a Chase Offers for 10% back on up to $100 which some people have. If you got the Happy Lady gift cards, you should be able to use them to buy other third party gift cards at Bed Bath & Beyond (and stack further with this rebate). Don’t forget Office Depot/Max is also offering $15 off when you purchase $300 in Visa gift cards currently as well.

If anyone else is doing this promo and the $15 off $300 in vgc on the same ticket it required manager override when I did purchased over $500 in giftcards today. No problem with it being approved, but thought this may be useful info, I was not aware of this limitation at OD.

I just wanted to give a data point for using the Happy Guy cards to buy other 3rd party gift cards at Home Depot. I tried to buy $75 worth of BP gas gift cards off of the rack at Home Depot today and I was unable to use a Happy Guy card to pay for them. The system blocked the transaction even with administrator approval. This had worked for me less than 2 weeks ago without asking for approval. The Happy Lady cards work at BB&B for purchasing other 3rd party gift cards with no problems.

Did you go to the register or through self checkout? I know someone here has successful with self checkout while others didnt.

I went to the self checkout. This had just worked 2 weeks ago for $75. I might try a smaller amount before giving up.

I tried a $25 gift card purchase today and it also didn’t work at my local Home Depot with a Happy Guy card. I got an attendant authorization required message. I only tried at the self checkout. Not sure if it would work at a regular checkout. Something definitely changed in the past week or two.

About two weeks ago, I bought two VGCs with the Happy Guy gift card at Home Depot and it worked at self-checkout. I immediately tried to use my second Happy Guy gift card for another two VGCs and it didn’t work. I went back to try again last week and it still didn’t work. I’m not sure if it’s the system or if there was something wrong with my Happy Guy card…

I went to Home Depot today for a third time this week and purchased Arco gift cards with my Happy Guy gift cards. No issues.

Also, the BBB rebate form has now been officially updated to a limit of 10 rebates.

How does BBB keep track of the number of rebates? Is it by address?

Split payment can be very challenging, but if you can do the transaction on one card, it should work. Like what if you bought a Happy Lady card for $206.95 and then took it to BB&B to buy a Visa GC? According to the rules, you’d also have to buy a separate card — which you could use to buy a GC in another order at BB&B (say for $50). Not sure it’s worth the trouble and risk but, in theory, you’d wind up with 2 $10 BB&B gift cards and — if you paid for the cards at OD with an Ink card, 5% of your $241.95 purchase ($15 off) and an ebates cashback if you link that. Not a bad deal if you’re willing to “work it”!

Happy Dining and and Happy Lady don’t work on Cheesecake Factory eGift cards and won’t work for the 12/20 free cheesecake deal.
Must split the $125 to get $15 off. (Discount applied at register.) Tom caught the fine print, thanks!

Has anyone used the Happy Lady card to purchase Cheesecake Factory gift cards through their website? (Gets linked to a Cashstar affiliate)

That won’t work. You can only use it in restaurant, but not with the 2 free slices offer online only for today.

Can you provide a counter data point? I have not seen anyone confirm that they were able to use it online so far. What have you use it as? A store GC or a credit card? The security of these cards would be greatly compromised if at all they were allowed to be used online what with the numbers being out in the open.

Hi. I was able to use happy lady and happy beauty to purchase on Sephora’s website. The card is very similar to vgc, and when I entered the card info on Sephora online, it was recognized as a vgc. I also tried to use it as a vgc and pay for my tuition online, and it was declined.

The security of these cards has been discussed at length on other sites, especially if purchased in store. These are run as credit cards. It has a sixteen digit card number, an expiration date and a three digit security code. The instructions on the card tell the cashier to run it as credit.

Does anyone know what the gift card fees are for visa/mastercard gift cards at BBB?

My local BBB has fixed value of $200 for visa, MasterCard and Amex, all has same fee 6.95 I bought 3 happy lady cards for 206.96 each at OD when 20$ off, used them at BBB already. One older cashier not happy and called manager on me, but manager checked my ID and told her to proceed.

Are you saying that Bed & Bath accepts Happy gift cards for purchase of gift cards?

simon

register or system allows at this time, but older cashier thinks its funny card and likely to stop you, so YMMV. Also if your area has heavy hitters and draw undue attention to use of happy lady card for 3rd party card including visa gift card buying, that store may refuse you. As another DP, i was at simon mall and saw $10 free visa gift card for every $75 or more happy card purchase flyer, went bought 100 happy bride card, got a $10 visa gift card, then went to BBB across the mall, and used that $100 happy bride card bought 2 ebay card of $50 each, then submitted BBB rebate today. Funny thing is the young black male cashier made this so smooth or really DGAF, i almost repeated this. But time is valuable and greed may cause trouble. So i am done with the happy cards for now unless i want the risk of holding it forever if my area BBB cracking down. lol

The cashier tried to stop me last night. I said “it should work as a credit card” and quickly clicked through the payment system, and the cashier let me. I was also tempted to do more, but I didn’t want to push my luck further.

No fee for happy cards at ODOM. They are discussing the fee for buying vgcs at BBB with a happy card.
