- Advantage rewards checking has a $7.95 monthly fee that cannot be waived
- Advantage rewards plus checking has a $9.95 monthly fee with a $2,500 average daily balance
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find an EATF in the fee schedule.
Our Verdict
Very strict on account opening unfortunately. Worth it if you can get the account opened though.

Convoluted but eventually successful in footprint DP:
12/20 tried to open a basic account online, got an email that I had to have an in person meeting
12/26 had in person meeting, opened basic acc with cash deposit
1/3, 1/17, 1/31: real DD of $500 each
2/1-2/10: did 10 unique debit card transactions online
3/21: sent secure message inquiring about bonus, got a response indicating that I didnt have recurring monthly transactions (since all my deposits ended up going through in January, by coincidence). I sent back a message stating that the term
monthly
didn’t appear in the bonus terms and asked to escalate it to a supervisor.3/24: $400 bonus awarded
Anybody have more DP when bonus hit your account?
Mine was 2 days after all requirements were met. It posted on a Wednesday. It was right about a month since I opened the account.
By the way, I tried to call and close it immediately after, but the rep said there was an early termination fee so I’m just going to wait until the 6 month mark and then close without a fee. I didn’t recall seeing a fee I the schedule but not worth fighting over anything.
well, looks like something’s wrong with mine then cos I met terms by 1/22/25. Used chase biz payroll to send myself ‘DD’ which is pretty robust in counting as DD. I also did Traditions bank bonus, which may be is creating conflict with this bonus as they have merged but still operating individually.
Did you also enroll for eDocuments and do the 10 debit transactions?
I used an employer’s DD, but usually a Chase Business ACH is considered the same.
Yep, did both.
I heard back from them. They are denying based on this “One of the requirements to receive the $400 was for there to be a reoccurring direct deposit into this account. There was only 1 direct deposit into this account, so you would not qualify for that $400 bonus.” I have kindly requested them to reconsider that and escalate it because my interpretation didn’t account for more than 1 direct deposit needs to happen.
I was able to open in branch. They do a chex inquiry.
Approved but it took a few days after applying. I do live 10 miles from a branch though so I expected approval. Credit card funding allowed up to $1000. Used Chase biz card for $950 deposit and it coded as purchase.
Looks like it is one per household so only P1 can do, correct?
Which checking account did you open?
Some updated data points:
First applied on 11/18 and funded with a US bank business card with cash advance turned off, but the application was rejected due to a “funding error.”
I applied again on 11/20 and funded with a bank account. The application was approved, and it took a few days to verify the bank account deposits for the actual account to be opened. It is now fully opened. All was done online; no need to visit the bank.
Some additional details:
I applied for the advantage rewards checking.
I live a little under 30 miles from the closest branch.
Fee schedule includes a $30 early termination fee if closed within 180 days.
Some more date points:
I completed the 10 debit card transactions on December 4th. The bonus posted on January 2nd. It posted before any monthly fee for the Advantage Rewards Checking account was charged. I was then able to downgrade to Basic Checking by calling in to avoid any monthly fees going forward. I will keep the account open for 180 days to avoid the early termination fee.
which account version did you open? I did basic checking and completed my 10 debit by 1/22. Also did DD from chase biz payroll in end of Dec, which is pretty solid for DD req. I have yet to see the bonus.
what is a “unique” debit card transaction?
Just confirmed that they still require you to appear in person at a branch to open your account
Which account did you try to open? I was able to open my account all online
The basic checking with no account fee
I had the same experience as you – all online, no problem.
Philly zip code doesn’t work
Anyone else getting a website error after going through the entire online application and clicking Submit?
Just checked application status and it did not record or save an application.
