There are a number of offers from Amex for cell phones going on currently.
- [Targeted] AmEx Offers: Get 10% Back In Cash/Points For Cell Phone Bills, Up To $30 Or 3,000 Points through 1/17/17
- Amex Offers: 10% off Cable or Satellite Bill, up to $30 [Targeted]Â through 1/31/17 (In the past, cable offers worked for AT&T or Verizon cellular bills too, although this isn’t official.)
- Amex Offers: 2500MR/$25 Off $100 You Verizon Cellular Bill [2x]! through 2/21/17
- AmEx Offer: AT&T Small Business Wireless Spend $150 & Get $50 Back (Up To Three Times) [Targeted]
If you have a couple of these offers on the same card, they’ll stack and give you both discounts on a single purchase. For example, if you have the Verizon deal and the 10% deal or the AT&T deal and the 10% deal, you’ll get both credits for a single payment.
We wanted to bring attention with this post that the 33% AT&T offer ends on December 1, 2016. Many of us are prepaying our AT&T cellular bill for the next year or two to lock in the 33% discount – it’s really an amazing deal.
Better not to leave it to the last minute in case they have limits on how many payments you can make in a day. I’ve had success making at least three payments in a row; $150 then $150.01 then $150.02.
If you ever change carriers, you’ll get a refund from AT&T for the balance, likely as a credit to your Amex card. If that happens, the Amex offer credit will probably be clawed back. In any case, if you don’t have imminent plans of switching carriers, it might make sense to do as many offers as you are comfortable floating.
Here’s my AT&T balance: 🙂
