Amex Offers: 2500MR/$25 Off $100 You Verizon Cellular Bill [2x]!

The Offer

A new targeted offer is showing in some Amex logins for wireless purchases and payments at verizonwireless.com:

  • Get a one-time $25 statement credit each time you use your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $100+ online at verizonwireless.com or by calling 1-866-804-6848 by 2/21/2017. Limit $50 in total statement credits.
  • Get 2,500 additional Membership Rewards points award each time you use your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $100+ online at Verizonwireless.com or by calling 1-866-804-6848 by 2/21/2017. Limit 5,000 Membership Rewards points.

The Fine Print

  • Expires 2/21/17
  • Offer valid on wireless services at verizonwireless.com or by calling 1-866-804-6848
  • Offer not valid in-store or at kiosks
  • Offer valid on wireless services, equipment and accessories
  • Purchases may fall outside of the offer period in some cases due to a delay in merchants submitting transactions to us or if the purchase date differs from the date you made the transaction (for example, the purchase date for online orders may be the shipping date)
  • Limit 1 enrolled Card per American Express Card online account and limit of 5,000/$50 per card (the additional points are in addition to any points you would normally receive for purchases on your Card under the terms of your Card Member Agreement and the Membership Rewards program; when we calculate the additional points benefit for Amex EveryDay Card products, points awarded under this offer will not be included)

Our Verdict

This is a targeted offer which is showing on some cards. I found the points offer on my BGR but no offer on any other primary card. Save it quickly in case there’s limited enrollment for this offer.

We usually see 10-20% off via Amex Offers, and 25% is excellent! If you got one of these offers, it makes sense to overpay your bill online which Verizon allows. Consider prepaying for as long as you can based on how many offers you have.

Also keep in mind that you can use the offer for goods purchases at verizonwireless.com as well.

Even more amazing is if you also have the targeted 10%/1k offer for any cellular payment. In the past, these types of offers have stacked and triggered both deals for a single payment.

One thing to note is that in the past there have been mixed reports about using the multi-tab trick with MR-points offers. The terms include lingo which might indicate that you can only get the points on one card per online login. Some have reported being limited by that in practice while others have reported the reverse. Let us know if you try it.

This issue is only relevant for the MR-points offer above. We’ve never heard of a problem getting the offer credit on multiple cards for statement-credit Amex deals.

I’m an AT&T user which currently has a 33% off Amex deal. This is what my AT&T account looks like (and I’m not done yet 🙂 ):

I wouldn’t worry too much about the possibility that you’ll switch carriers in the future since you should get a refund back on the card if that happens (although that likely will result in an Amex Offer credit clawback).

I purchased one Verizon $100 on my Platinum card and one on my wife’s Platinum card. Different accounts, mine went through within an hour and it is going on 48 hours now for her Verizon card. Still shows the $1 temporary charge and online order still shows processing. Mine was already shipped and scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Any thoughts as to why her’s will most likely get cancelled? I actually ordered hers first and mine second from the same IP.

Also the $100 has already been charged to my account and the $25 credit has posted. I don’t feel like having my wife call Verizon so I guess I will just let it get cancelled and try again next week from her account.

Were you able to place a new order that went through? I had the same problem in my wife’s name where they cancelled the orders. I wasn’t going to make my wife call though.

Hi, anyone go to buy Verizon gift card and get back MR points or 10% discount?

Worked fine for me online x 5 (different CC’s) for 10% discount.

Buy $100 cards. I bought one at a time, waited until I received it, and checked balance before I proceeded to purchase a new one.

Did you buy the gift card through Message+ or directly from verizonwireless.com? I tried the later and charged to my Amex CC, but never received the 10% MR points.

I am so sorry – I must not have been thinking clearly when I wrote my message. I received the $25 per $100 spend offer on five gift cards that I bought through the site. I actually did NOT receive the 10% on the one gift card that I tried to buy that was eligible for the 10%.

I can confirm it works on paying FIOS bill. Points took over 3 weeks to post but they were there today from a bill paid on 12/1

Has anyone tried this to buy gift cards using the Message+ app? They have Amazon, eBay, Home Depot, Best Buy, GameStop, Staples, Lowe’s, Groupon to name a few. I won’t have enough time to prepay to use all of my offers so might get an Amazon gift card or two for $100 if it works… Thanks!

I.e., if the offer stacks, it would be $75 Amazon GCs for $100 or any other other options…

You can charge an Amazon gift card to your Verizon bill using the app. Then pay the bill using your Amex card or using a Verizon gift card. Didn’t try the direct method.

Verizon has an accessories store for stuff like headsets and fitness bands. They sell them for almost same price as BestBuy. If you have 2500 MR offer on two cards and if your order is more than $200 call immediately after placing the order and ask them to split the payment.

I have Verizon FiOS triple play and Verizon cell phone on one bill. I have the Amax offer on multiple cards. Any guess how this will play out?

Did you try to pay Fios? If so, did the $25 credit?

I got this offer on my AMEX Platinum. So does this mean I should spend $100 twice during the period to maximize this?
