I had 2 SW cards post points last year, one was immediate, the other was about 6 weeks later. It’s certainly nothing consistent in my limited experience.
I think that is just people in our hobby trying to make lemons. Most card members don’t likely plan to use them about the time of the annual fee and likely aren’t watching like a hawk to see when it posts. They use them at some point during the year. The fact that they don’t post immediately has little impact on most people and certainly wouldn’t cause them to cancel the card.
