The article about LAX is a pure rant. It’s not intelligently thought out and adds no value to the discussion. Sure, we all dislike having to deal with shuttles, but it’s already been the case for rental cars and there isn’t a public transit alternative. I recently had to wait 30 minutes at SNA for my Lyft ride due to an insane backlog of ride share traffic. Next time around I’d really consider walking 10 minutes out of the airport to hop on a ride in 10 minutes instead. What LAX is doing is a solution to a problem… it may not be perfect, but it beats allowing the traffic to get even worse.

I vaguely recall TPM sellers debating on using the cards they’d sold to TPM when they didn’t get paid but some were worried about legal repercussions? Anyone recall that/know how it worked out?

Feel bad for anyone caught in it.

All TPMs assets are in 401K and IRA. People are getting nothing. The fact it took them 3 years to file means they moved and are hiding money somewhere.

It’s approximately 17 months after what’s commonly accepted as the collapse. And I think that grossly overestimates the likelihood of TPM engaging in blatantly fraudulent activity, especially to a degree highly sophisticated creditors couldn’t follow

It looks like they moved from their previous address in July 2018 according to the court documents. They are now renting from the mother of the wife for only $400 a month, also according to the court documents.

If you do a search on their current address (3464 CHARLESTOWNE CROSSING DR) it was purchased by a trust fund with the mother’s name on that same July 2018. They also claim they will be kicked out in March 2020 because the mother is trying to sell the house. I’m sure that’s after the bankruptcy proceedings. The trust is where they put the money. That’s why it took a year.

If enough creditors file claims they’ll be able to dig up more on this guy and find the money I’m sure. Especially with evidence of the bounced checks, that’s fraud.

The LAX change is just stupid. It makes no sense to ban “quick hire” (rideshare+taxi) cars other than LAX can’t manage their traffic. LGB was already a much better airport experience, now there’s no way I fly into LAX if I have a choice.

If you read the article, you’d see that they’re actually just requiring people to take a shuttle from the terminals to a particular parking lot where they can then get a taxi or a rideshare car.

They are not banning taxis or rideshares. Depending on how it’s actually implemented, it could be a good or bad idea for clearing up congestion. You’re the one who said LAX can’t manage its traffic. Why is this not at least an attempt to literally manage its traffic?

They should do this for private cars as well. Only shuttle buses allowed in the horse shoe.

Or like singapore make the tax on cars onerous and use it to beef up public transportation. Only the rich and idiots should be willing to drive cars in the congested parts of the city.

That would probably make it too empty, and simply move the congestion to the remote area. Moving some of the traffic should help balance things out.

This is hardly the only airport with a rideshare pickup area. SEA and SFO have it in the parking garages.

This is timely, even if nothing new:

Most people are just driving empty cars all the time.

Traffic at LAX has been awful for years, if it alleviates traffic in the horseshoe, it might even get you out of the airport in a car just as quickly, with the bonus of not paying to sit in traffic for 10 minutes.

Avoiding LAX has always been a good option, but as always, given LA traffic, you for into whichever one is more convenient to your destination. Most people aren’t ride-sharing to halfway between LAX and another airport. My family, for example is about 10-15 minutes from the airport — I’m not flying into Burbank or Long Beach.

Fly into John Wayne Airport in Orange County and you can solve your problem; never have a problem there!
