- Milesperday has some interesting posts on necker island. Personally I would never do a trip like this, but that’s because I’m incredibly cheap.

While you may be stringent with personal budget (which may be a good thing in the long run, but that is for a separate topic), you have built an incredible blog that benefits thousands of readers! I would say you are one of the most Generous blogger and the best in the points and miles.
I would assume managing this website is a lot of work aside from a full-time job. Thank you for the great work!
Necker Island looks really nice but it also looks like basically every other island in the Caribbean 🙂 Last summer we rented a killer oceanfront 2 BR condo for $75/nt in Freeport Bahamas for a month. We had a half mile of the most beautiful beach in the world all to ourselves on most days. Snorkeling in the calm water every evening. Catching and eating our own sea urchins in the reef. We didn’t fish but we probably could have fed ourselves given the abundance in the area.
A quick google suggests a price of $27k/week for a Necker Island villa visit, so I guess $16k worth of points is a relative bargain for it? That dude has so many points anyway he might as well splurge with them, even if it’s beyond practicality for most people.
Meh, Virgin’s safari camps are a way better use of points unless you’ve never been on nice beach before….
Safari’s are great, yes! I won’t debate you there. Referring to Necker as just a “nice beach” is completely uneducated. If you’ve been, you’d know what I’m talking about.
I’m going my 3rd time this summer (first with points, 2nd paid for by RB by networking with him my first time, 3rd with points with MPD). Playing doubles tennis with RB, singles against him, and kitesurfing with him daily while eating most my meals with him everyday is a priceless experience. Not just the luxury experience of the island and activities, but also from a career standpoint. There are 1000’s of safari camps you can go to in life and use various points to go to them, but it’s definitely not even in the same realm of a priceless experience Necker provides (unless you’re willing to spend $40K cash to go for the same dates that is).
