That is a pool of, “gelatin,” not, “jello,” because a jello pool would have sugar.

I know it’s a minor quibble. But, if you can’t even sample the goods… it’s not jello.

It also kind of defeats the whole purpose of such an experiment. Just a spoonful of actual jello – before jumping in – would have sold it for me.

But, boo. No one cares about fake jello.

The, “Taco Bell Hotel,” article is total click-bait. It’s only a 5 night promo.

At the minimum, the headline should add the word, “Temporarily.”

I don’t blame this site… but, parroting click-bait is not exactly saintly, either.

Good comment from an actual doctor in the comments about that lounge death: https://onemileatatime.com/man-dies-in-cathay-pacific-lounge/#comment-4186883

“As a physician, I can tell you that if the guy was down from an MI and not breathing for more than 10 minutes, he’s brain-dead and a meaningful recovery wouldn’t be possible. Even if a nosy or alert shower attendant found him within 5 minutes, started immediate CPR and threw a defibrillator on him, that’s almost too late. Plus, the logistics of getting paramedics to him, and then getting him out and to a hospital would have probably meant his event-to-treatment time would be so great that his recovery odds would have been dismal. At 18 hours they were doing CPR on a corpse. There’s nobody to blame here other than cholesterol and bad timing. It was the worst (or maybe the best) place to go out in style.”

So although it is absurd that it took so long for them to notice, even only taking an hour wouldn’t have helped.

It is probably going to make anyone who retroactively finds out they were in the lounge at the same time as a dead guy feel a little creeped out!

Another good point, https://onemileatatime.com/man-dies-in-cathay-pacific-lounge/#comment-4187059

” Cathay Pacific is definitely negligent, despite that may not have changed the outcome.
The lounge opens from 9am to 1am (16hours only), assuming the worst case scenario of the gentleman entered the shower suite at 9am sharp and collapsed immediately, he still should have been found at around 1am when the lounge closed.
The fact that he was not found for over 17 hours indicates that Cathay Pacific did not thoroughly check and clear the lounge before closing. ”

But even worse, a later comment points out that according to a Flyertalk thread about the incident, the guy was not actually in the shower, he was in a bathroom toilet stall. So I guess they only clean the toilets once a day?

Guess that first doctor was auditioning to represent Cathay at the trial.

I think that there’s such a thing as too much privacy. If someone is in a public bathroom for more than an hour or two, someone should be checking on them… via intercom.
