Tomorrow the annual fee on the American Express Marriott Bonvoy Business card is increasing from $95 to $125. Currently the annual fee is waived for the first year, I had assumed that it would also be waived when it increases to $125 but by the wording on the landing page I’m not sure that’s actually the case. The sign up bonus on the card is 100,000 points after $5,000 in spend within the first three months. Previously we’ve seen bonuses of up to 35,000 SPG points (105,000 Marriott points) and 90,000 + $100 on this card so the 100,000 point bonus is competitive. Keep in mind the cross issuer Chase/American Express rules for this card. Personally I don’t think it’s worth applying for unless you have an immediate need for Marriott points and even then it’s worth remembering getting this card will make you ineligible for the Chase Marriott Premier Plus as well.
