[Expired] Safeway: Save Up To $25 On Visa Giftcards [Vons, Randall’s, Albertsons, Tom Thumb, Acme, Jewel, Shaw’s]

Deal has ended, view more Safeway deals by clicking here.

The Offer

Direct link to offers are below

The Safeway deals are usually at Von’s, Albertson’s, Randall’s, Tom Thumb, Acme, Shaw’s, and Jewel too.

The Fine Print

  • Expires November 7, 2020
  • Limit 1 per household per digital coupon

Our Verdict

There’s also a similar Mastercard deal currently ongoing through 10/31/20. I’d recommend saving these offers sooner rather than later because the coupons disappear before the end date.

Also just a reminder that you don’t usually earn fuel points on these purchases (YMMV) and remember to use a card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases.

The $100 mc gift card no longer supports auto-split payments in Safeway, had to ask manually, otherwise it would get declined if the amount is larger than $100. Which make the deal less convenient to use.

@Samosa have you tried combining the offers in one purchase (buy 2 $100 vgc for the $10 off, and also buy 2 $100 vgc for an extra $15 off).

i normally use cash app to get addtl cashback, but the grocery boost is only available once a wk. so, i wanted to just buy w a normal cc, but i didn’t want to make multiple trips.

i assume it was a typo and u meant $10 off 2x$50 and $15 off 2x$100.
and the answer is yes u can get all 4 cards and $25 off in total in 1 transaction

vc but the $10 off is merely a breakeven after the fees.. for a small gc value

My Albertsons accepted one of the $200 MCGCs I bought at Office Depot last month for the 2 $100 VGC deal

I’m probably going to hold onto this until November 1 when the CSR 3x on groceries begins, though. Easy way to cash out points.

The Safeway near me only allows cash or debit for purchasing visa or MasterCard gift cards. Wondering if others came across this as well?

I had this happen at one Vons out of the several Vons/Albertsons I go to. Usually on the variables they will want to see ID, but that’s about it.

I have 2 Albertsons in my area. One is enforcing and the other one isn’t.

it’s not hard coded that way in the terminal. just different stores have their own policies. try another one and it might just work. also try the new cashiers who might just let u do it anyways

The Acme near me apparently takes credit cards, but I do get asked for ID occasionally.

ugh why can’t they offer the VGC deal for variables. They havne’t had them in awhile or at least have a deal with $200 VGCs.

surprised that the vgc deal starts while the mcgc’s is not yet expired; seems that safeway & its affiliated stores want to get more foot traffic / shoppers

I think you’re on to something here. Lately the stores have been offering far more “free” items through their rewards cards or partner rebates via Ibotta. I’m convinced it’s to generate sales by luring customers into the store. They’re hoping you’ll pick up at least a few more items besides the “special”. There’s far less impulse buying when shoppers buy online at home and have it delivered.

hope they could get more biz & last, as other grocery chains in the area like kroger, heb offered nothing thus far, as those must have done better or well enough

May I ask which card was used to get the 10x points? Thanks in advance!

I think they mean just4U reward points, you can redeem them for discounts on your groceries or gas.

I understand VC. I talked my wife into going to Safeway to pickup 2 x $100 GCs and charge to the Prestige card for 5x points all so I could stay home 🙂

Just to temper your expectations, that’s not typical P2 behavior.

If I sent P2 to do this she’d come back drinking a $5 kombucha
