They offer a free checking account with no monthly fees to worry about. The advantage checking account has a $5 monthly fee that is waived if any of the following requirements are met:
- Be 25 years of age or under
- Be 65 years of age or over
- Have an active Visa® credit card, or line of credit, including HELOC (activity is defined as carrying a balance or making purchases each month that total $100 or more)
- Have a current consumer loan, including mortgage
- Have a minimum average daily share balance of $2,500 across all primary account holder’s accounts
- Make monthly aggregate deposits of $1,000 or more in SkyOne Advantage Checking Account
- Make a minimum of 10 debit card POS (point-of-sale) transactions

Our Verdict
We recently saw a $200 bonus, but that had requirements whereas this doesn’t. They are ChexSystems sensitive so keep that in mind, also the bonus ends today. I’ll still be adding this to our list of the best checking bonuses, because there are generally not many that are nationwide.

It’s weird they have this process in place. I already drained my account.
I forgot to mention this earlier, but I just wanted to say that I finally got my $500 back from my failed credit card funding fiasco with this bank. Neither they nor Citi could figure out what happened, but the NCUA was able to figure it out. They said that my dispute with Citi never went through, which is why the credit union kept clawing my $500 back. I still wouldn’t recommend doing credit card funding with this bank, but at least it’s good to know that you can go through the NCUA to solve any issues that you may have with this credit union. My BASEBALL PROMO PAYOUT today.
ANybody know if these guys claw back a bonus for early account closure? Bonus received months ago, my account has been open for more than 180 days and I want to close it.
Opened a savings and checking account with them with this promo, and they emailed me saying they had to do an audit on “all new accounts opened.” They put a hold on my opening deposit funds (funded with a Citi Rewards+ credit card) until I sent them a copy of a most recent utility bill, paystub and a copy of my ID with my current address on it. The funds are available now. Also, IIRC, the $500 CC funding is combined savings and checking.
Oh, and I had about 15+ Chex inquiries at the time, unsure if it was related to that.

Opened 5 Oct, $100 bonus posted to savings 18 Nov. Pulled $, closed by phone 24 Nov with $5 to be mailed to me. Now I see this offer with no mention of a time limit for previous member. Looks like I can apply again.
The language does note “This offer is intended for new members only”… but at least in the text in this post, it *does* have no mention of a time limit. The bank is a pain to deal with, but for anyone willing to deal with that, constant churning could be interesting if it’s possible to do.
