Staples: Buy $300 in Mastercard Gift Cards and Get $15 Staples Gift Card

The Offer

Direct Link

  • Buy $300 in Mastercard Gift Cards at a Staples store and get a $15 rebate in the form of a Staples gift card via the Staples Easy Rebate system

This offer is not advertised on the Staples site, but the rebate is showing in the rebate list which is how people found out about this deal.

The Fine Print

  • Valid 11/20 through 11/26
  • Limit one per household

Our Verdict

This won’t stack with the Amex Offer since that one is online only, but still useful for racking up INK points, especially if you find yourself nearby.

You can still apply for the rebate without the receipt. The Staples Easy Rebate website will detect that your transaction qualifies for the $15 Staples GC rebate. I have submitted 2 rebates without any problem.

I think people freak out when the receipt doesn’t print out for this promo thinking they have been duped. However its not that big of a deal other than getting a warm fuzzy feeling since no one really submits the rebate by paper anyways.

almost the end of the week & the MCGC rebate promo period… and receipt STILL doesnt print out. v v weird, first time dealing w something like this (the cards have always registered & been eligible for rebates so rebate form auto printed out.) I’ll try the EZ Rebate site in a few hours as per suggestions above. dunno why Staples’ systems are acting so wonky lately.

I purchase one $200 and one $100 MC and rebate receipt did NOT print in store. However, I waited a few hours, went to the rebate site and entered the Rebate ID from the bottom of the regular receipt (below the long barcode) and the items were found and eligible for rebate so all looks good.

By the way, I haven’t done a Staples rebate in a while, but the time frame is now listed as 9-11 weeks from submission. It used to be 4-6 weeks. I’d be disappointed to wait 3.5 months for these going forward.

Make that 2.5 months . . . but still.

That’s because this week Staples starts the extended holiday return period… so they need to make sure you won’t be able to return the merchandise after you receive the rebate.
this obviously doesn’t apply for MC gift cards as they are not returnable… so it’s just a blanket policy they use for all rebates this time of the year.
it will revert to normal after Jan 1.

Remember the MC gift cards are more frequently hacked than the Visa ones. If you’re not planning on liquidating them quickly, I recommend registering them right away.

the last MCGC offer 2 weeks ago, same thing, no rebate receipt. I just went to the ez rebate site and entered bar code info, It worked anyway. But remember 1) this offer is for a 15.00 Staples GC, not visa, and they are harder to liquidate. Ill pass. I actually am using the 2 200.00 MCGC I bought for actual spend.

Just bought two $200 MasterCards at the Union Sq. store in Manhattan. No rebate receipt printed. Showed supervisor the promo on the Staples website, and she had to call someone else. They were not able to resolve anything, nor refund my transaction. Was told I need to call the Rebate Center tomorrow and, if they can’t help, to come back to the store so they can “see what they can do”. Careful with this one unless there are some positive data points.

Just tried that and got the same “Rebate Submitted / Pending” message as normal with these, so hopefully that does the trick. I guess I’ll know for sure in a few weeks if the rebate card arrives.

11/21. No rebate receipt. Submitted online using number below barcode. Received submission confirmation and then “rebate being processed” about 90 minutes later. 11/22 Clicking on tracking link in processed email has status as “validation complete.” Will probably liquidate using giftcardwiki (e-submission) – mid 80s would be acceptable.

The last time this offer went live, I bought it on the first day and no rebate form printed with receipt. Cashier also said he didn’t see there was a rebate for it but I saw the offer online and went ahead with check-out. I went to staples easy rebate site and entered the numbers below my receipt’s barcode and hours later, I got email that my rebate submission was received. I already received the GC a week ago.

So you get a $15 rebate in the mail (hate those) and another $15 if you use an Ink card. Then do you have to pay to activate this card? Seems like “almost not worth it”…
