Not a great offer unfortunately due to the small cap.

Made a booking through normal Expedia.com (not Expedia.com/Amex). Received confirmation email but never the credit. CSR says because I did not use the correct URL, credit will not apply.

I didn’t realize you could get the “Great News!” confirmation email, and then not receive the credit. I always thought the email meant a positive trigger.

Got the email when booking at Hotels.com but never got the credit. The booking went pending as EXPEDIA (which probably triggered the email) but posted as HOTELSCOM.

The posted Amex transaction even showed the traveller name and hotel name.

I’m probably being overly paranoid, but the (Germany) booking I’m looking at says “Pay Now” not “Pay Online Now” … should be OK right? Also it’s “partially refundable” i.e. you get 10% back if you cancel, LoL:

1 room x 1 night $103.98
15% off
Taxes and fees $7.28
Local tax $4.39 Payable at property
Total $115.65
Pay now $111.26
Pay at property $4.39

I made a booking directly at hotels.com and it triggered this offer. Didn’t even remember adding it, so I’ll take the free $20 lol

Did you actually get the $20 credit? Hotels.com goes pending as EXPEDIA but posts as HOTELSCOM.

After my Expedia points were applied booking was $120, got an email confirm from Amex saying I used the offer minutes later.

Is there a way to combine these offers from multiple AmEx cards in a single booking?

Does Amex tend to claw back if you do a return (cancel the booking)?

Yes. They were petty enough with the 10% Dell offer they sent people with closed cards bills for the amounts like a year later.

Needed a one night stay coming up that’s about $120 so this might work out for me. Thanks.
