The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

American Express currently has two targeted AmEx Offers, both for cell phone bills paid online. They are as follows:

  • Get 1,000 Membership Rewards points award each time you use your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $100+ online via major US cell phone carriers T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T Wireless, US Cellular and Verizon by 11/15/17. Limit of 3,000 additional Membership Rewards points.
  • Get 10% of your online payment back as a statement credit each time you use your enrolled Card to pay your cell phone bill online @ these accepting major US carriers (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon) by 11/15/17. Limit $30 in total credits.

The Fine Print

  • Must use a card enrolled in the offer

Our Verdict

They had the same offer come out at the end of last year as well. One thing to keep in mind with these offers is that you can usually prepay your cell phone bill to lock in the discount. I’d alsor ecommend reading about these 14 Things to Know about Amex Offers Deals.

Very odd how I received an email with the subject “You’re enrolled in the cell phone bill offer. Here’s how to save.” Yet the email only contains info about the cable offer? Yet when I log in online, I don’t have the cell phone offer, only the cable one.

Anybody know if paying my T-Mobile bill will trigger the cell phone offer or if that would still count for the extra points.

Can confirm Cricket doesn’t trigger the offer

I pushed a $100 payment on the AT&T website for my Uverse bill on the 1000 MP version of this offer and it triggered the cell phone version of the offer, not the cable:

” Thank you for using your American Express® Card ending in xxxxx at AT&T PHONE PAYMENT 800-288-2020. You will have successfully redeemed the offer if your purchase meets the terms of the offer.”

How did you get 3000? If the payment triggered both offers you should have received 2000 per $100+ payment.

3/6….now I have $900 credit in my T-Mobile account. I feel like this is a trap planned by amex and the cellphone companies in order to keep their customer base lol.

Hi William,

DP:

I got targeted for both the Cell Phone Bill and Cable Bill amex offers. I added both the offers to my card and paid $100 on att.com with the registered card couple of days ago and got two confirmation emails from the amex, i thought it was strange or thought it might be a system glitch because usually i only get one email if i use any amex offer but today i was checking my amex Membership Rewards and a single transaction on att.com triggered two bonuses. It’s like 20% cash back if you pay 100$.

This is how it looks on my Membership Rewards activity:
08/01/2017 Earned Telco Industry MR Offer 1,000
08/01/2017 Earned Cable Industry MR Offer 1,000

This is the posted Transaction:
30 Jul AT&T*BILL PAYMENT 97DALLAS TX $101.00

Offers i added to the card:
1. Spend $100+, get 1,000 Membership Rewards® Points. Up to 3x Points. Save on your cell phone bill online

2. Spend $100+, get 1,000 Membership Rewards® Points. Up to 3x Points. Save on your cable or satellite TV bill

I only have wireless service with ATT. I am not sure why it triggered both the offers.

I just wanted to bring it to your attention so we can see if other readers are also getting a double dip here.

Thanks.

I am very interested in this. I wasnt able to get both offers on my cards, but I got a ton of cable offers. Don’t have cable, so was hoping that Verizon Wireless would trigger the cable payment. Anyone have any experience?

I do not see where to get this with BCP. Not automatic right?
I am going to assume it does not include prepaid for like US Cellular. I do not see anything on my statement to indicate it is prepaid US Cell.
“Please note another important exclusion in the terms “Excludes payments for prepaid cellular phones and prepaid plans”.”

I just paid my AT&T U-verse Internet bill with a card that has this cell phone offer loaded. I immediately received a “Great news! You just used your Amex Offer” email and will post a follow-up here in a few days if the statement credit posts. To be clear the card that I used has the cell phone offer loaded but does not have the cable/satellite TV offer loaded, so the Amex Offer email that I received was definitely because of the cell phone offer.

The statement credit posted, so it looks like this does work for paying AT&T Internet bills.

In the past Fios triggered these cell phone offers. Have any of you tried to pay Fios with this promo or the last one? If so, did you receive the credit?
