Update 9/11/23: Deal is back and valid until 10/27.

Update 6/9/23: Deal is back at this link; seems to be a public offer. Valid through 7/28/23. (ht nycdpj)

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Chase is offering some business customers $1,000 when signing up for Chase Merchant Services and processing $2,000 in payments.

The Fine Print

  • Customers can only receive a total of two Chase Payment Solutions® bonuses every 12 months from the last offer enrollment date. To receive the bonus, all terms and conditions must be met.
  • The offer is valid for new U.S. customers through 04/28/2023 that (1) complete an application; (2) are approved by Chase; (3) activate a new Chase Payment Solutions account; and (4) process $2,000 of credit and/or debit card payments (not including fees) over at least five transactions by 06/27/2023.
  • Qualifying transactions are Chase Payment Solutions transactions processed using Chase Mobile® app, Chase Business Online, Chase Point of Sale (POS) app, Chase Mobile® Checkout app, mobile card reader, Smart Terminal, Move 5000, Desk 5000, or Orbital Virtual Terminal, and authorize.net. Accounts involving a partner solution are eligible only when opened directly through Chase Payment Solutions. Full product list subject to change. Other restrictions may apply.
  • To receive this bonus, the enrolled Chase Payment Solutions account must not be closed or restricted at the time of payout.
  • The cash bonus will be deposited into your settlement account within 60 days after the requirements are met.
  • Employees of JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. and our affiliates are not eligible. Offers are not available to signers on local, state or Federal Government entities or agencies, Not for Profit organizations, Political Action Committees, or those with campaign accounts.
  • Bonus is considered miscellaneous income and may be reportable to you and the IRS on Form 1099-MISC (or Form 1042-S, if applicable). Offer is good for one-time use.

Our Verdict

Reader Sammy clarified that there aren’t any fees to sign up for merchant services, and the only fees involved are the 2.5%-2.9% card processing fees on the $2,000. You can expect to receive a 1099-MISC for the bonus and a 1099-K for the payment processing.

I received this bonus in 2023. Chase sent me a 1099-misc for the $1000 bonus, but nothing for the $2000 processed payments.

The $2,000 would just be part (or all?) of your business income, you’re not going to get a 1099 for that.

Joined for the $1,000 bonus completed the requirements and was entitled to the $1,000 bonus in December. I filed a CFPB complaint and within two weeks received the $1,000 bonus.

Do not hold off filing the complaint they will pay fast once u do that.

isn’t that the $2000 payment that you receive into your account is taxable as well?

if this is the case, your business in total receive $3000 ($2000 from payment , $1000 from chase bonus) and assume the average tax rate is 30%, you will end up paying extra tax of $900. Effectively you are only receiving $100 bonus.

If anyone wants to help each other out to complete the 5 transactions / basically swap credit card swipes to accomplish this for both of us, let me know! Could be a win/win? I can’t figure out how to do it otherwise without a “friend” and just with my P1/P2 because both our last names are on the business account (a real LLC).

I got another email today with this offer, but I’m hesitant.
I do have a real business (construction contractor) but I’ve never accepted credit cards.
I don’t have any current Chase bank accounts, but I do have an Ink card.
$1000 does sound nice, but all the posts below are scaring me off.
I wonder what the ratio is of success for actual businesses vs “fake” businesses?

Do NOT DO THIS. I met the criteria 5 months ago with the method the rep recommended and I’m still fighting for a bonus. Most likely not going to get it. Chase’s merchant services is horrible and I would never recommend switching.

I fulfilled this promo offer back in July of this year and am still waiting for this money. I keep getting the runaround and passed on from one person to another. I have it in writing from their business development specialist that I qualified for the promo and fulfilled it and that I would be paid the $1000. That was in July. I have been following up and escalated this matter multiple times and keep hearing the payment is in the que to be paid out. I went to my local branch and they intervened and got the runaround, too. I have been with Chase for 20 years and am ready to pull my personal and business banking. What a joke.

This was a nightmare. My account was shut down and my funds are still being held from June. Please read all comments below for how to approach this if you are interested.

Don’t do it!
They closed my account without warning after processing 2 payments from customers. Refunded one and held the other payment for 180 days….
Explanation – “high risk”
