Saw a similar offer before. Hopefully they don’t 1099 this $5.
Hat tip to reader Mike S
I was targeted for this offer in February and received the bonus points in early March. I just got another email yesterday for the same offer with the same time frame. I don’t know why they would send a duplicate email when I already completed the offer so I am wondering if this is a second offer with the same terms. Going to make 3 small purchases at Target and see what happens
this is a max of 500 points not 1500 points…just a clarification as the previous such posting had a comment that it max reward if 1500. The wording is a bit confusing, but the points do post along with the third purchase.
Thanks very much for your post, Harry. I was among the confused. Appreciate the clarification.
Earn $5 for 3 taps was on my Chase Freedom card the last time, and I did it. I didn’t think I got the reward and messaged Chase about it. They looked into it, and assured me I did get the bonus. It was paid in the form of 500 points (and yes, they did do it, I just didn’t notice). When I looked back at the fine print, it also did say it would be awarded as 500 points. So my bad, Chase!
There was another promo with the Chase Bonvoy card, which I didn’t get, so again, I messaged Chase. For that promo, Chase told me it was run/sponsored by Marriott, and I would have to ask them about it. That was eventually paid (Bonvoy points) by Marriott directly.
Had this on a Hyatt card over a year ago, did the three transactions, never got the points. I was told to follow up after the 6-8 weeks was up, but got busy and forgot. I assume it’s too late now.
Did get it on CSR this time, debating whether it’s even worth the hassle of finding 3 low-value transactions in person somewhere that supports tap to pay..
nadaaaa!!!! FUCK YOU Chase!!!!!
I just got this on one of my Freedom cards.
I did this on one of my Chase cards back in Dec, doing it over separate days as the T&C required, and nothing has posted yet.
Where did it say you have to do it over separate days? I got the offer on my CSR last evening and already put 3x small contactless charges on it today.
My IHG card offered 1,000 points. Three transactions of $3.50 minimum. Weird thing is I didn’t know about the promo until after I did the first one. I got an email reminder saying promo extended. The email didn’t say which of the two IHG cards, so I used the same one two more times and hope for the best.
I just realized, my promo email came from IHG, not from Chase. Just like the Hyatt spend 50 times promo:
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-world-of-hyatt-cards-get-up-to-5000-bonus-points-when-using-your-card-during-february/
came from Hyatt, not from Chase.
So that’s why it doesn’t mention the card number, it just mentions my IHG member number!
And that makes it even more different from the Chase Reserve promo pictured above.
It’s not always exactly as described above.
My offer is on my IHG hotels card from Chase, and it’s 1000 bonus IHG points, and it’s through 3/31, and the email title just said “Offer Extended! Tap your new card, earn points.” and I have to open the email to find out how many points it is.
So the number of points varies, the date varies, and the subject of the email varies, depending at the very least on which exact Chase card the bonus is for.
This is what I got as well.
Got this on my CSP.
With the minimum of $1.75, you have to spend st least $5.25. So 500 UR is a rebate if valued at 1 Cent/MR, so shouldn’t be taxable …
