Our Verdict

25,000 is the best we’ve seen. The launch sign up bonus was 15,000 points, we also saw a 20,000 points offer via Credit Karma and a 10,000 point + $100 live nation credit. I assume this offer has the 24 month restrictive language, and thus it’s probably better to get a higher sign up bonus on the Premier or Prestige instead of doing this offer; the Rewards+ card mostly makes sense as a downgrade option.

Interesting how hidden and easy to miss the signup bonus information is on this mailer. Not sure how widely this offer was sent out. If you have any questions about Citi cards, read this post as they are most likely answered there.

I have this card, and the premier. For the 1st month having this card, I did a lot of 1 and 2$ transactions (organically). It didnt generate like i was expecting. Often, the 2x wont happen on gas and grocery, even with merchants I know to code as such. Seems shady to me. They did however give me a 5x offer for online purchases up to 500$ spend. It pairs ok with the premier, but, cards are losing most benefits, and the citi portal prices are pretty much chitty. Its looking like lifemiles transfer is gonna generally be my best value for economy redemptions, no?

Isn’t Citi removing most of the protections listed under Card Details on September 22?

I just rec’d their letter today; worldwide car rental insurance, trip cancellation and interruption protection, worldwide travel accident insurance, citi price rewind, and 90 day return protection are being discontinued Sept. 22, 2019.

Is this the card that gives a minimum of 10 points per purchase, even on sub-$1 transactions? Seems like that would be noteworthy to include in the “Card Details” section.
Thanks!
