Tip for Adding Two Amex Offers to your Cards (Points + Cash)

Last year, Amex limited each user to being able to save just one of each Amex Offer deal per person/SSN. We explained then that they still allow us to multiply that a bit by saving two varieties of the same offer: often, the same offer shows up in cash version and a points version, e.g. get $10 back in one version, and get 1,000 Membership Rewards points in another version. If you were lucky to get one card with the cash offer and another card with the points offer, you could save both of those and take advantage of the deal twice.

Tip: Reader Parts Unknown tells us to ensure we first save the points offer and then the cash offer. Apparently, if you save the cash offer first it will cause the points offer to disappear whereas if you save the points offer first the cash offer remains to be saved.

A lot of us value the Membership Rewards points more and instinctively save the points offer before saving the cash offer. That might be why I never noticed this before.

Update: there are various conflicting reports in the comments regarding this. One theory put out by a reader is that using the old interface or keeping multiple tabs open with each offer will help you save both offers.

DP
I received 2 congratulations emails on 2 different cards for same offer (one card has cash offer and the other card has ponts offer) on 5/13 right after purchase , The card that has cash offer received cash back on 5/15 but the MR card hasn’t received points as of 5/24. I have never had any Amex offer that did not post within 3-4 days in the past

From my experience, if I add amex offers on old version website, I always can keep both point and cash offers on separate cards as long as I can see both. However if I add offers on current verison website, I usually can do only one. Sometimes some offers only show in current version website. To do double dip on new website, it is better open multiple tabs for different amex cards, view all offers for all tabs, then add points offer first. Don’t refresh any tabs before adding all offers successfully. I believe the key is not refreshing website. Because on old website, switching between cards don’t refresh whole webpage whereas on current website it does.

Contradictory DP: Just adding the Happy Cards offer. Added MR offer first, then the cash offer on another card disappeared. This is on website.

That is incorrect. I check yesterday for Microsoft offer $250 off $1000 under my Gold, and Delta and it was not there, however, it was under Blue Cash everyday. AMEX isn’t stupid to not know this. Their new updates are more on points to not allow double reward.

Does anyone know how to get points offers at all? I have two MR earning cards and only get cash offers.

I just tested this on my phone, thru Amex app. I was able to add the CASH offer first and then add the MR points offer.

what about getting 2 travel credits when you have 2 aspires one from upgrading and one from signing up? if their alll on one login the travel credit shows used up but if you take one and put it on a. different log in it allows you to select an airline for the travel credit do I risk a clawback?
