Our Verdict
We just posted the same deal for the Fidelity card. Looks like this is being offered on other U.S. bank cards as well, it’s not entirely clear if the 20% bonus applies to just the base rate or if it will apply to things like the 5% categories on the Cash+ card. Not sure if these are annoying to get to actually post like the Fidelity card deals or not.
Deal is worse than normal, normally you earn an extra point per $1 spent after meeting the spend requirement. Whereas this time you earn an extra 20% bonus (or 0.4 points). Readers usually report getting the actual bonus is very slow or doesn’t happen at all with manual intervention so need to add that level of hassle to deciding if it’s worth it, personally I just pass on these deals now.
Seems to only be 20% of the base 1% so a 5% bonus category is 5.2%.
this only makes it really interesting if you plan on capping a 5% category. (pay off internet or cell phone for the year)
+1, I pay off my electric bill for the next 12 months, so effectively a 5% interest rate.
Is internet or cell phone service available in 5% category ?
Cell service is currently a category. Internet/TV starts 4/1 for 2q. This offer is thru 4/30 so both quarters would qualify.
