Our Verdict
They have frequently offered bigger bonuses for $200 in the past. Most likely worth waiting for one of those instead given the fact that you can only get one bonus per 12 month period and you’re not eligible if you’ve had an account within the last 12 months. Because of this we won’t be adding it to the best checking sign up bonus page.

Please update that this promotion is not available in the state of Utah. I tried to open an account with them and have received this message “Unfortunately, we do not offer this product in your state”. Thanks!
Updated, thanks.
heads up, according to their checking accounts overview page, the bonus is in the form of a visa gift card
Updated, thanks Ferris.
I signed up for this bonus last year when it was $300! Too bad they’re not offering that anymore.
Two compliants:
1. I had to write, sign, and fax a letter to cancel the account. They wouldn’t let me do it over the phone.
2. Their web interface sucks. They’re growing fast, so it’s bound to get better, but for now it’s a pretty crappy web interface to manage your account.
What was the $300 bonus? Don’t think we covered that one, damn it!
You actually DID cover that one. It was the same $200 bonus you posted, except some folks got additional $100 DD bonus with select plus. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/homestreet-bank-200-checking-bonus/
Oh 🙂
Yes, I signed up through the January 8th, 2016 post on this site! This site stated it was a $200 bonus, but then they gave an additional $100 for doing $500+ DD. $300 total. It was amazing.
While this bonus isn’t as good, signing up for an account was easy and the bonus was deposited into my account quickly and without issue.
anyone, who’s working with their partner, have any experience with churning a one per household account for both within the same year at different times. e.g. I open this account now, close in 90+ days and wife opens one later in the year there’s an offer.
no language covers this scenario from my interpretation.
