The Offer
- Umpqua Bank has partnered with Slickdeals to offer a bonus of $200 when you open a new checking account. To receive the bonus you must:
- Be signed into your Slickdeals account
- Click apply now
- Finish opening your account
- Once approved, submit this form stack form
The Fine Print
- Form must be submitted within 4 weeks of being approved
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
The Embark Checking account has no monthly fees as long as you opt for paperless statements. If you opt for paper statements you’ll be charged a $3 monthly fee.
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so I’m unsure if there is any early account termination fee or not.
Our Verdict
We are seeing more of these Slickdeal backed bonuses recently, I haven’t heard of any real issues getting the bonuses but obviously the more middle men you add the more likely a problem is to arise. Definitely worth doing if you live in the targeted area, no bonus requirements and a nice amount of credit card funding as well. I’ve added this to our list of the best checking bonuses.

Was able to fund my account 2 or so months ago with my BoA Alaska Card and maxed the $2,000 funding. Warning that I did have to go in to a branch and verify my identity and ownership of the card used to pay or my account would be closed.
Closed Umpqua via online messaging but they require your mailing address in the message and takes at least 3 days before they’ll respond back that it is closed. Calling expedites the process if you’re in a hurry to close.
Has anyone tried the Umpqua Bank Visa Business Rewards Plus Card, with $200 bonus for spending $2000?
Does anyone know how to report this on taxes? The language seems to imply that the bonus is coming from SD.
I’m not sure either. Neither Umpqua or SlickDeals sent out a 1099-INT or 1099-MISC tax form for this bonus.
William Charles, please take note that several of us got stiffed by SlickDeals after satisfying all stated requirements. I’ve emailed their supposed customer service [email protected] once a week for a month now with no response, others had similar experience below. Bad DP for SlickDeals
Was any reason given for the lack of rebate? Do you use an adblock at all?
I haven’t had a single response from them after sending 5+ emails to the provided address, over the last several weeks (my 30-day deadline expired 11/29). @strykker31 commented below with a similar experience. I do use an adblock, didn’t realize that could interfere, but even if so doesn’t explain their failure to say “Hey you didn’t qualify” or whatever. Just dead silence.
Yeah ad blocking software will block the cookie, that’s most likely why you won’t get the credit. Agreed not good them not responding to you
Any DPs on early termination?
If you followed all the rules and did NOT get your bonus, contact slickdeals. They will ask you to send in the slickdeals confirmation email and proof that you opened an account. I did not have the Umpqua confirmation email, so I screen shotted a portion of the account that showed my name. Slickdeals got back to me and said that was good enough and I would see the bonus in 1-2 weeks. I have not received the bonus yet, my response from slickdeals was only on Friday, 11/23.
How did you contact slickdeals? The only method I can find is through their forum (at https://slickdeals.net/forums/sendmessage.php), but after submitting to there, I haven’t heard anything for a couple of days and there’s no record of my request.
It says to email them at [email protected], but I’ve tried four times and haven’t heard back from them…
Same problem for me. This is the first I’d heard of SlickDeals, are they a reputable company or do they arbitrarily exclude customers and refuse to honor bonuses like this all the time?
It took them 4 days to get back to me, here is what I sent:
Hi. I did not receive my bonus, but my partner did. Both applied on the same day through slickdeals and Umpqua. I don’t have the acceptance email, but I can screenshot something from my account to show you I have the account?
Thanks for your help.
Anyone not get their bonus? I got mine, but P2 did not.
I signed up 10/16, and I’m still waiting. 30 business days is up 11/29, maybe they’re trickling out until then?
Got my bonus today.
Like others, just got the bonus even though they told me another week.
