Warning Regarding American Express Pre-Approval Referral Offers (No Lifetime Language)

If you haven’t already I’d recommend reading our post on ‘American Express Pre-Approval Referral Offers (No Lifetime Language)‘ offers. It has come to my attention that some readers are sending other readers regular referral links, rather than these special pre-approved offer links. The regular links still contain the lifetime language. It’s very important you check any offers you receive to ensure there is no lifetime language (click ‘offer details’ and look for ‘Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.) The pre-approval offers also clearly say they are pre-approval in the subject line, whereas the referral offers will say referral.

To any readers who did/do this, I just want you to know that I think you are a low life garbage human and I hope karma catches up with you sooner rather than later. If you want to discuss these offers please do so here. If you want to trade referral information then do so here. Please avoid naming & shaming in the comments as it’s impossible for us to tell if people are telling the truth or not.

I originally signed up for the Blue Cash Everyday rewards card. Subsequently signed up for Amex Gold and Cash magnet w/o referrals, just through Amex Pre-Approval links after signing in to my acct. Both were approved and were a Soft Hit on my CBR. I ended up closing the Cash magnet w/i 30 days bcs the terms and Credit limit were poop.

What’s the real issue? People randomly referring people they don’t know with the referral links that carry the lifetime language? Is it safe to assume that once you become a card holder of an Amex card that carries the Lifetime language, that most other cards within the Amex family will count towards a lifetime limit, regardless if any new card they obtain in the future have the lifetime language or not?

What’s your problem with lifetime language? Just spend $10 million per year and you won’t have to worry.

I hope people are accidentally doing this as I was just sent one from an individual named Yassur with language like, “Welcome Offer not available to applicants who have or have had this card or the Premier Reward Gold Card. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.”
I didn’t apply.

I just hope that those whom I sent my wife’s offer took advantage of it and not deprive other people from benefiting.
She already collected almost entire annual referral bonus from her regular refferals, so no loss for us.
