Avoiding Fees

The best account to open would be the free checking account with no monthly fees. I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so I’m unsure if any early account termination fee is charged or not.

Our Verdict

Bit annoying you have to open this one in branch and it’s only a $100 bonus. Probably not one of the better bonuses due to those facts, although at least it’s a soft pull.

Speaking of Bank bonuses…

5th/3rd, $200 bonus, good through 9/30: https://pages.offers.53.com/semcblp?cid=vurl:53com:q216_cashbonus:200:

Must live within 50 miles of bank branch. I tried to apply and got an error online. Called in and tried to apply, got to the PATRIOT act disclosure and was asked for my address, was filled in on the address limitation.

I do have a credit card with them – received a mailer for a $150 cash bonus with $500 spend this month. Apparently loans/credit accounts are more generous than deposit account limitations.

Definitely can’t apply online with that coupon, the terms are pretty clear about that.

Looks like it’s FL/GA/IL/IN/KY/MI/NC/OH/TN/WV only

I live in one of the state you’ve mentioned, and I can’t apply. The reason given by the rep when I called in is because I live more than 50 miles from a branch.

I’ve done this one. The bonus posts immediately after a qualifying DD. However, they are picky about what counts for DD, I had to switch my paycheck to DD $100 there.

Opened up an account today in person. No credit card funding and they are pretty strict on only opening accounts for people that live/work in the area they are in. The good news is it is NOT a hard pull, it is a soft pull. I asked them numerous times. Any one questions ask me, my branch is super friendly.

Opened an account today in person, also was told that it was a soft pull. They also checked ChexSystems, and even though I had 6 inquiries in the past 6 months, they were fine with that since I have no negative marks.

Following up since my first comment. DD hit 4/27 and bonus was deposited on 5/3. Pretty quick so I am happy. Funds available to withdraw, I think I just can’t close the account for at least a year. I will ask my banker next time I go in

Deal is back through 7/31/2018, now only requires a $5 initial deposit into primary savings account

Bonus has been extended to August 31, 2018

Extended to Nov 30, 2018

You can now apply online and get the bonus

You’re almost there! Use your coupon one of two ways:
1) Enter promo code 100CHECKWEB on our online form to apply your $100 bonus.

2) Print out the email you received (with your promo code) and bring it into your local Heritage Credit Union branch or show it on your phone when you open your new account.

I “applied” online but it was just a form with basic info. Said someone would be in touch via email. Not sure if this will actually lead to an actual online application or whether I will be asked to go to branch.

Anyone email you back?
