Williams-Sonoma Visa Card From Comenity Bank Review – 5% Back

In June 2016 we let you know that Barclaycard & Williams Sonoma would be discontinuing their relationship, Comenity Bank has purchased the card portfolio and will be issuing the new card. This card is now available. Let’s take a quick look at this new card.

The Basics

  • Card earns at the following rates:
  • When you earn $25 in rewards, you’ll receive a $25 certificate to spend at Williams-Sonoma. These expire 90 days after they are issued
  • Free standard online shipping on eligible purchases at
  • Receive a $20 Welcome Certificate in the mail after you receive your new card (this is for existing cardholders, new customers will get the same bonus)
  • 20% off immediately after approval (Offer not valid for gift cards, gift wrap, taxes, shipping & processing, delivery surcharge, sale item, grills or stoves including: La Cornue, Lynx, Kalamazoo, Memphis Pro, Caliber and Williams Sonoma Brand grills. Offer not combinable with other coupons, discounts, offers or promotions.)
  • $25 certificate received during your birthday month. Card must be active and in good standing

How To Pay For Your Card

For whatever reason, people struggle to work out how to pay their credit card statements for these store cards. Comenity will allow you to set up automatic payments when the card launches and also to log in and pay your account here.

Our Verdict

The shopping cart trick does work for this card according to reader Jennifer. I wouldn’t recommend this card for most people, as there are much better options out there. The $25 birthday certificate is nice, but when you compare it to cash sign up bonuses it’s pretty lackluster. That being said, the new card is significantly better than the old card as that earned 3x at Williams-Sonoma and 1x everywhere else.

It works but since they pull my equifax every time I do the cart trick I denied
P.D. you have to fill the aplication anyway

People (myself included) have problems because the website is inconsistent. I tried 3 times to set up my account and finally called and then it magically worked. I setup credentials logged out, tried to log back in again, only to have the website tell me my credentials don’t match the username and password. I use a password keeper so it’s impossible that I’m typing anything wrong. Then when I tried to recover my password it’s unable to find my account number. So far I’m not impressed by Comenity.

The problem with this card is that the automatic award expiration after 90 days; so, you use it or lose it quickly. No storing up rewards for larger purchases. As far as I’m concerned, this is a deal breaker! I carried over $125 from Barclay when it serviced Williams-Sonoma, and that made a significant impact on the cost of some new All-Clad cookware. That’s no longer possible.
Free shipping? WS offers free shipping to everyone so often that that benefit is almost meaningless.
I’ll use other credit cards instead of the Comenity card from here on out.

I think comenity bank is a fraud. I’ve tried to pay off my credit card three times wi no luck. I called them and asked that this credit card be blocked from any new charges but there ha been another charge on it. I guess when you sign up for a credit card with this bank it will be in your name forever and any charges you will be responsible for even though they are not done by you. Don’t sign up for a credit card with this bank. They will bleed you to death. Marilynn

No one who has an account with this bank cannot get anything done on line as their website is the worst on out there.

Was just offered a No fee balance transfer for 14 month at 0% APR.

Simple way to make a extra couple hundred dollars for lowering a temp lowering of FICO.

  10. Marcus says:

Hey – this worked for me on 8/31/17. Fico score is in the 580’s range and approved for $1,000 @ 24.4% apr.
